Hello Nina - restaurant weeks encourage trying new things as well as revisiting some old favorites.  Many establishments are small businesses and the dining industry, as a whole, is fraught with many issues.   Shedding light on pieces of the pie(so to speak) is a good idea.

Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®, CRS hi Paul... I think we all know a few people like that. Charlotte has long been considered a good city for African Americans... with income here higher than for African Americans in most other cities.

Michael Jacobs hi Michael... right now, anything that gets people out and supporting our local restaurants is a good thing as far as I'm concerned.

Hi Nina Hollander, Broker - Glad to see that things are getting back to normal in your neck of the woods.  I have only been to one Food Fest - The Taste of Chicago.  What I like is the ability to experience new foods.

Wanda Kubat-Nerdin - Wanda Can! good morning, Wanda... when we moved here in 1998 we would not have been able to have food festivals like this in Charlotte... the food scene has really exploded here in the past several decades.

Bob "RealMan" Timm hi Bob... as you can see, we have some three dozen black-owned eateries participating this coming week... and that's not the sum total of such black-owned restaurants in our area.

Endre Barath, Jr. we have similar issues here... one of our favorite Italian restaurants is now open only for dinner... they were always open for lunch but can't get enough kitchen staff to reopen for lunch.

James Dray hi James... we are a much bigger metro area than yours... so it's no wonder you wouldn't have a food festival quite like this one.

Brian England hi Brian... in principle I agree with you. By the same token, we have food festivals celebrating all kinds of ethnic cuisines... I don't see anything discriminatory in terms of support for a specific cuisine.

I don't see anything discriminatory either, but I just wish we were all seen as human rather than put into categories, haha.

When I was in the Carolinas back in 2014, I could get enough of the wonderful food there.  I especially remember one black owned cafe that served up the most amazing soul food.  I can't remember the name of it, but it was in Charlotte!
