Ninety nine percent of this story is true. The pictures have been changed to protect the innocent. (or the fact that I can't find any photos from that trip.🤒)
This is the second part of the contest hosted by Ray Henson and Margaret Rome Baltimore 410-530-2400 . This is a truthful fish story.
Back in the 1990's I was HR director for a home fashions company. The corporate location in North White Plains had a large warehouse and the employees wanted to go on a fishing trip. The warehouse manager arranged for a charter boat out of Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, NY. The day before there had been a violent storm prompting us to question whether we should cancel the event. But Saturday morning it was a beautiful sunny day. The warehouse manager took the warehouse van with his assistants and filled it with food. We all met in the parking lot in Brooklyn.
The water was a little rough when we left the dock. We went on a rocky one hour ride into the ocean off of Bel Mar New Jersey. As soon as the boat stopped fishing began. People were catching plenty of fish.
The boat was really rocking more than I ever remember any boat before. I was not feeling great but some people were really into fishing. As I went inside the cabin I saw many people who were not looking too good. It wasn't long before people were going one by one to the side of the boat. What could be do. We were at least one hour from shore. Finally, fishing is over and most of the group was relieved. The crew filleted all of the fish on the way back. That was the most sea sickness I ever saw. But wait, there's more.
Finally, we get back to the dock. As we go to the parking lot one of the assistant managers says, "Al, all of the lug nuts are gone from the van." (But the wheels and tires were still there.)
You really can't make this up. That's my fish story and I am sticking to it.
