Right or wrong way back when January 2011

Below is the content of a post made on January 22, 2011:

It is Saturday morning. Sometimes on Saturday some of the posts are "silent Saturday." Today's affirmation is short and easy to understand. Having said that I constantly forget it's order and reverse it. The question of the day is "do you sometimes reverse the role's too? So here goes the affirmation of the day: "Speech is silver; Silence is golden." Enjoy the day!

It is 2023 and I still have not fully mastered "Speech is silver; Silence is golden". At best I am a work in progress and the progress has been slow. Then again I am not alone. Many though have made more progress. Enjoy your day.

Hello Wayne - your post has me pondering.  About dashes, sprints and marathons.  And isn't life a combination of such races?  Meanwhile, I wander in wonderment.

Knowing when it is a sprint and not a marathon is key to giving it your bet planned effort.

I try to get more time for pondering but the grandkids have other plans and now my granddaughter is starting to walk. Little time for pondering with the endless chasing.

Thank you for the inspiration, Wayne. There's nothing wrong with work in progress. Better than no progress at all!

That's my take although sometimes I think it might be an excuse.

I think you are much further along the progress road than I am.  Keep up the good work.

Wayne, not sure if I understand the truest meaning of this post.  I believe the saying 'Speech is Silver and Silence is Golden' is a proverb and giving greater value to Silence.  And you know, Wayne, many times in life I have found in my experiences, that Silence deserves the accolades...it came out ahead more powerful -  a wiser move.

Learning to listen is a journey not an event. I am making progress but it is a long road ahead of me.

I have to admit, I've never heard this entire quote - although I have heard Silence is Golden. And Silence Speaks Volumes. Both are true.

I like that quote! I think silence can go a long way personally and professionally- truly listening to clients needs, making them feel heard. etc. That being said, many of us like to talk and we'll always be 'works in progress'!

I especially understand the silence is golden more so after some of the younger nieces and nephews leave. I am not so sure about the Silence is Silver as those same kids would be worth gold if they were quieter.

Silence can be golden but right now, I'd more than love to have the sounds of tiny feet pitter pattering and our grandchildren's  laughter echoing through the house, Wayne.
