Summer is coming and so are the days of wondering what to do with your family in Athens, Georgia! The Athens Clarke County Leisure Services Department takes play very seriously and has activity, clubs and services for everyone. Check them out at the link above and here are a few of my favorite for the upcoming summer ACC Skate Park at SE Clarke Park: The SPLOST 2000 funded skate park is designed to accommodate both skate boards and BMX bikes The park features two main components including a bowl ranging from five to ten feet in depth and approximately 4,500 square feet in size. The second component is a street course including ramps, grinding edges, and rails, steps, and other unique features. This skate park is constructed entirely of either poured in-place concrete or shotcrete and has a unique steel coping around the edges for grinding. Please make sure you read the RULES! The World of Wonder Playground (WOW) at SE Clarke Park (off Whit Davis Road) This unique playground was constructed in 2004 by 1,500 volunteers. It is the largest volunteer built playground in the state of Georgia. The playground is open during regular park hours -Daily from 8:00am to Sunset.
Memorial Park features 90 acres of developed and undeveloped land, and offers walking trails, a children's playground area, a zoo, wildlife trails, swimming pool, lake and much more for the whole family to enjoy. Youth Fishing Club - visit Athens Clarke County Leisure Services for more information Looking to spend a weekend somewhere cool? Take a daytrip/weekend run away to the Jekyll Island, Ga Turtle Crawl: "Tug on your wetsuit, lace up your running shoes and strap on your helmet for the upcoming Fifth Annual Turtle Crawl triathlon and 5K Fun Run/Walk set to take place Saturday, May 5, 2007. This year's festivities once again include a USA Triathlon (USAT) sanctioned triathlon; 5K Fun Run/Walk; and Nest Fest an exciting festival of educational programs, live music and fun for people of all ages. I see you too are using a background color. How did you find/use one with the little boxes in the background? I have been using solid and I'm just curious. You post does stand out! Nice work.
