How does one get Linking points in the system...

By
Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advantage~ Ginger Harper Real Estate Team 93383

Hi All!

I am still a newbie and wondering how to get Linking points in the system.  I have worked on this for an

hour or so with no success.  I do not understan what a tag is either.  Tags are not key words.

I know that some of you are laughing at this old dog learning new tricks.  But at least I am

willing to learn.

With warm regards,

I think that was an excellent question. I didn't have a clue what a tag was either!

Hi Ginger,

I'm with ya!  I *still* don't have a clear understanding of tags though I've tried to find a really thorough post on that topic.  I'm not really using them yet because I don't understand the ins and outs.  Re linking - I had that same misunderstanding since I kept reading How-To and Newbie posts that talked about points for linking. It seems to be one of the challenges of a site built by blog posts - you may very well be reading something that doesn't fully reflect current practices even in the posts specifically meant for new members.  So much to learn!

Ginger, I've been addicted to ActiveRain for the past month.  AR is an endless supply of information, and the more I delve into it, the more I realize I have a lot to learn.  Here's one cool little thing I learned....my cool signature.  Go to www.mylivesignature.com and it will walk you through your own personalized signature.  I posted the html code in my e-mail automated signature and use it on my website too.  IE will not allow you to save the signature in a .png, so make sure you download Firefox browser (it's free) to do this.  Let me know if you need help.

Welcome to Active Rain. This site is amazing. Everytime you search to find out an answer to one question you find ten more questions! But not in an annoying way, just more great info that you want to have.  This site is a wealth of information and some of the nicest people!

Thanks,

Cindy

Just learned about the live signature from reading comments to you....isn't this cool?

So Kathy,

If I understand right it's no more points for linking. Why they don't erase that (linking points) from points summary then? I still think it might be good to link, even whitout points, but it looks better when you get points too...

hate to say this, but to be fair, linking points should be removed from all profiles.  Some people still have linking points as part of their point make-up.

Now you tell me that there are no linking points awarded anymore. Great.

However, to all of you who commented, you've given me alot of usefil information as well. Thanks for the tips!

Ginger, I know this is an old post, but I'd been wondering about linking points and performed a search and you were at the top of the list so here I am.

Thanks for asking the question...Now I have the answer.  I was wondering how the linking points worked.  Guess it doesn't really matter at this point since they are no longer rewarded...

Thanks for the great discussion. I have been a little confused. Is there an instruction sheet or "road map" for the Points sytem on active rain.

Love it but want to learn more.

I have a bunch of Linking points.....1400 I think, from back in the day when I linked to active rain from all my other websites.  I stopped a long time ago and didn't realize that they no longer gave out the points.

Thanks for asking this Ginger - I wondered what they were, now I know they are no longer!!!  I agree with comment #12 re: taking away everyone's past linking points earned.  But, the AR gods will do what they feel is fair!  Thanks again for asking Ginger.

I also agree with comment 12. It should be the same for everyone. Either let everyone have the points or take them away from everyone.
