An event INSPIRED by Active Rain's community of friendly cooperation...

By
Industry Observer

I am thrilled to share what I have been working on ALL day.  Influenced by the kind and generous spirit of cooperation here on AR a realtor/friend of mine Annie Alexander, of Keller Williams, and  I came up with the idea of creating a building wide Realtor Open House Tour.

Knowing and believing that synergistic teamwork can create so much more... we developed what we call a "POWER TOUR".  We were able to get 11 of 14 agents that had listings in one building to work together to create ONE BIG Realtors OPEN HOUSE that will take place next Tuesday from 11AM to 2PM.

AND thanks to “The Lovely Wife’s”  playful creativity in "The Official Active Rain-Speak-Cheat-Sheet" my brain got cooking...  we are calling the event “TOURIFFIC!” You can see a sample of the ad created for the day below.

So if anyone asks.... here is an example of how Active Rain generates ideas and benefits the industry on soooo many levels.

NOW if I could just create this same spirit of cooperation within the staging community… I would be thrilled.

Stage It Forward...

We've been hosting these types of events in my market for some time now.  The tours have typically been very successful.  Good luck to all of you.  Keep us posted.

St. Paul's Summit Ave. had a collaborative tour a week ago.  The cheapest house was a fixer upper condo for $750,000.  Everything else was in the millions.  I was surprised that only 4 of the dozen properties that have been on the market for so long participated in the open.  It was tastefully done but not enough agents participated.

Always nice to know that something I have done has inspired something good from another. That is why we are all here. To help...to make each other think...and to bring out the best in each other.

It's people like you that help me to put my best food forward and move forward...no matter what.

I wish you much luck with "Touriffic" I Like it. The reinvention of the English language has it's place in Marketing! Cool.

Misty is happy. You are a feature. Excellent for you!

It would be fun to work on an open house tour with different courses of a meal served at each one.

Sounds wonderful! Everybody wins ... the homeowner, the buyer, the real estate professionals and, of course, the stager! Wish I were there to really do a tour ;)

We do that with condo listings a lot.....and my listing partner and I do it with single family homes. We also do neighborhood tours, and brokers open tours (not me, i participate, but I mean my office) and we get brokers for brokers open on these neighborhood tour days.  So that might be an extra idea to throw out to the community here. We draw up maps (courtesy of normls/mls) and list all the locations of the brokers open; and we email offices (sorry if this bothers you spam haters lol) to let them know.  Somehow I think the fact that four or five brokerages are all participating at once for a collective brokers open, helps get agents from all brokerages - even the one company here with a reputation for only touring their own listings...how silly is that by the way!!!   Thanks for a good topic.

Not really a new idea, but good luck with it. The hard part is getting the agents that actually have clients to find time to tour...know that I don't have time for it.

As they say, there are no orginal ideas. So I am not surprised that this "has been done" before. However I am new to the world of Real Estate, so for me it is a new thing.

Getting 11 agents to work it out so that their schedules jive in a highly competitve Chicago condo market was a bit of work.

And I have a few other "things" I am going to do during the Power Tour.

Sure looks pretty though...all nice and organized...easy to read...I have done nothing more than "accessorize" it. What's a Lady to do!

Aside from that Misty wouldn't leave me alone about it. She can be so very a--l. Tee-Hee...
