Just You.

As a photographer, I strive to be a minimalist.

Using artsy terms, I try to capture the feeling of a moment or the essence of a scene with as little in the image as possible.

In this image, my wife and oldest daughter enjoy the sea on Assateague Island MD in the fall. Because you cannot see their faces, it gives the image a more universal feeling of relationship. In my opinion.

My wife always wants to see people's faces in an image because that is how she relates to photographs. I advise her to take her own photographs.

For me, this image captures the feeling I have for my family as well as the best of that place.

If you are new to creating your own art, don't worry if it is not what someone else would choose or make. Do what brings you satisfaction and meaning.

(However, when my wife tells me to take a particular shot...I take it.)

Oh, that is an absolutely stunning shot, Steve! I am like your wife, I love to see faces but, I also appreciate scenes like this one. You're right, do what you love doing - express yourself your own way. Variety is the spice of life, after all!

This is beautiful! I often find that photos that are not staged with the subjects faces capture the moment and memory a bit better.

thanks Mary Grace. I take pictures of my family's faces for memories but when I attempt to make "frame worthy art" ...I don't. I do like street photography where you can capture some really interesting faces but that can be intrusive and feels like spying :-)

I think listening to your wife on what to take is wise and I love your photo.

Thanks Joe. Been married to the same woman for 40 years. I do rebel as much as I can since that keeps me interested.

I'm smiling at the difference in perspective about faces shared between you and your wife.  Too funny!
