I am very thankful for my spiritual advisor, Pastor Nate Walther and his support staff (also known as his family). Two years ago we switched churches and denominations from LCMS (Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod) to WELS (Wisconson Evengelical Lutheran Synod). The two churches are very similar in beliefs but the WELS is just slightly more sound on the word of God.
Pastor Walther is the son of a WELS pastor and has been raised in private WELS schools from first grade all the way through college and seminar school. I have never known a pastor of any denomination as well versed as Pastor Walther yet Nate is far from dry. Nate loves to hunt, ski, sports, and even brews his own beer. If I were to point out a flaw it could only be that he is a Packers fan but then again he did grow up in WI so I have to forgive him for that.
I, like many, have been a church "shopper" over my life time. I was raised EUB (if you know what that denomination is you are most likely as old as I am being they merged with another major denomination in the 60's) and I've been a member of the Presbyterian Church, United Methodist, several different Lutheran denominations, and even a Pentecostal church.
I have heard thousands of sermons and attended thousands of Bible studies but I've never know a spiritual leader who has the depth of understanding AND the kind, gentle personality that Pastor Walther exhibits.
Nothing is more important to me than my eternal destination. Little is more important that having a good spiritual guide. Pastor Nate Walther is my spiritual guide and I want to publicly give thanks for him.
Thank you also goes out to Debe Maxwell, CRS for her challenge to share with you that which we are thankful for during the 10 days prior to Thanksgiving day.
