Integrated Light Manufacturing in MXD Zone Gaithersburg Joint Public Hearing A proposed text amendment to allow low impact, "Integrated Light Manufacturing" in the MXD Zone will be the subject of a joint public hearing before the Mayor and City Council and Planning Commission on July 6 at 7:30 p.m. The change is designed to help retain and attract employers and create opportunities for the redevelopment of aging business parks. 14th Annual One-Act Festival in Kentlands Enjoy an eclectic mix of short plays as the City of Gaithersburg joins with Montgomery Playhouse to present the 14th Annual One-Act Festival, July 17 through 26, 2015, at the Arts Barn, 311 Kent Square Road.Performances will be held Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., with special Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. Tickets are $20. I-370 Resurfacing Project: Expect Traffic Delays The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (SHA) began work on a 5.3-mile, $4.6 million safety and resurfacing project along I-370 (Sam Eig Highway) from I-270 (Eisenhower Highway) to MD 355 (South Frederick Road) in Gaithersburg, Montgomery County. Weather permitting, the project should be complete by the end of the year.The work consists of repairing and replacing sidewalks and sidewalk ramps for Americans With Disability Act (ADA) compliance along Pleasant Road and Shady Grove Road, upgrading traffic signals at the end of the ramp from I-370 to Pleasant Road and I-370 to MD 355 with new mast arms, signal heads and LEDs. Free Summer  Lunch Program for Montgomery County Children The Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) Division of Food and Nutrition Services is providing free meals to children and teens during the summer months. Children 18 and younger may go to any of the seven designated MCPS school locations, Monday through Friday, to receive a healthy and nutritious lunch. Hours and dates vary. Yellow Hibiscus: State Flower of Hawaii When I posted this photograph of a yellow hibiscus in Facebook groups, one of my Facebook friends provided the following comment about this being the state flower for Hawaii.This photograph was taken in the conservatory of Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA, a wonderful travel destination at any time of the year.  “This is an exceptionally beautiful looking yellow hibiscus which is also known as maʻo hau hele and literally means “green travelling introduced hibiscus,” which is deceptive because the flowers are yellow and not green. The Manual serves as the City's official resource guide for all program elements related to Gaithersburg's Stormwater Program Fee, which was established in October of 2014.
