general motors plant: General Motors Impact on Arlington, TX

My home city of Arlington, Tx has been around since 1876. Like many places back in those days, it was a farming community and also known for cotton ginning. But what really made this city great and made it thrive was the opening of the General Motors plant in 1954. Of course the man responsible for bringing GM to Arlington was the great Tom Vandergriff. Vandergriff was actually responsible for so much of what Arlington has accomplished throughout the last 60 years, it’s really amazing. That’s really a story in itself I suppose.
