Council plans for 2010 
At their regular meeting on Monday, December 7, 2009, Airdrie City Council adopted the 2010 Operating and Capital Budget.  City taxes are anticipated to increase by 3.97 per cent, 0.4 per cent lower than last year. Based on the average home in Airdrie ($365,000), this would mean an increase of approximately $50 a year or $4.25 per month in taxes. The tax increase would come into effect on January 1, 2010. Fireworks, wrapping up the 2009 Festival season, will start exploding over Airdrie at 9 pm on December 31st.
Due to parking issues in the surrounding areas the fireworks PLEASE NOTE NEW TIME - 9 pm -not 8 pm as previously advertised. Please be aware that extreme weather and high winds may result in cancelation.

Wednesday , December 16th was Century 21, Castlewood Agencies opportunity to host at the Festival of Lights in Airdrie Alberta.  Our realtors and our Broker (Bonnie Wegerich) were out in good form to be sure everyone was having a great time.  Hot Chocolate and Cookies were served to the throngs of visitors to or area, we also had some great prizes, which included an I-Pod.

Should I Renovate before I Sell?
There are different schools of thought on this question but for the average seller but primarily a coat of paint is the best thing you can do to help sell your home after looking after curb appeal, ie: Mowing the lawn, tending to flower beds, painting facia power washing exterior.

Charitable Foundations On-Line Auction a Success

Calgary Real Estate Board Charitable Foundation's very first on-line auction was held during the first two weeks of October,  many of the Calgary and Area Realtors took advantage of the pre-holiday shopping from the warmth of their homes or offices.

This was the Calgary Real Estate Boards Charitable Foundation's very first on-line auction and was a Rip Roaring success, raising $12,456.96 that will go toward affordable housing initiatives in our community.
