real estate in the outer banks: After The Storm - Both Sunshine - And Shade - 08/03/10 10:49 AM
I wrapped up my time on the beach in Nags Head, NC this afternoon.  Yes, the jellyfish were still out in full force, but I decided to enter the water one last time anyway.
I'm happy to report, I did not get stung, but I do believe I felt the 'swish' of one of the jellies on my leg.  Ewwwwwww......
As always, Real Estate, crowded my thoughts.  Look carefully at the photo to the left.  The last house on the right has been my shelter this week.  I either sat in front, to the right or underneath it because it offered … (7 comments)

real estate in the outer banks: The Power of One ----Jellyfish, that is. - 07/31/10 05:11 PM
Reporting from Nags Head, NC once again.  The weather has been nothing short of awesome.
The beach?  Relaxing and quiet.
The ocean?  Majestic.
The waves?  Strong and powerfull.
My favorite brown pelicans?  Inspiring.
The jellyfish?  Relentless.
There isn't much that can keep me from the water.  I absolutely LOVE to jump over the waves.  A burst of cold temperature won't hinder me from enjoying the ocean.
BUT.......
The jellyfish win.  Today I barely went in up to my ankles and even at that I had to jump a little-to-the- left-and-a-little-to-the-right, at times, to avoid the gosh-darn jellyfish. Apparently, it's a record … (10 comments)

real estate in the outer banks: Everything New Is Old Again. Everything Old Is New Again. Which Is It? - 07/30/10 10:16 AM
Here I am - still on vacation in Nags Head, NC.  The quiet times on the beach each day have given me much-needed time to reflect.
Just to sit and think.  As always, one of the prevalent thoughts is (no surprise here) Real Estate.
Day 1 - I realized and acknowledged that Real Estate is on my mind no matter where I am.  Everyday in everyway I am noticing the terrific properties and opportunities in Nags Head.  Notably, there is a house on the Auction Block right across the street from my vacation home.
Day 2 - I saw a gorgeous home right … (3 comments)

real estate in the outer banks: It Was An Amazing Day! - 07/27/10 12:34 PM
My first day on the beach at Nag's Head offered up something completely unexpected to me. (http://www.townofnagshead.net/)
Brown Pelicans.
I was out in the water, enjoying the surf when I noticed a flock of seagulls heading towards me.
Seagulls?
Something seemed different though.  Something was actually very unusual.  It was something I had never seen before.  These 'seagulls' were flying in perfect formation, swooping down gracefully across the crest of the waves. (http://www.stephencresswell.com/s/pelecanus.html)
It was beautiful to watch.  I was amazed.  I was speachless.
It didn't take very long to figure out that these birds were most certainly not seagulls!  They were in … (3 comments)

real estate in the outer banks: Can I Have An Opening Bid? - 07/26/10 12:59 PM

My boss, Joseph F. Pino, auctions properties. (http://localism.com/blog/nj/posts/1306997/If-you-need-a) He usually holds his auctions on Saturday mornings right on the site of the subject property.  There is typically a mixed crowd of investors, curious neighbors and nervous potential homeowners. There is usually a Realtor or two in attendance, as well.
He always asks for a million dollars for the opening bid whenever he holds a Real Estate auction. (http://pinoauctions.blogspot.com/)
Yeah.....he usually gets a big laugh!
There's a house in Nags Head, NC being autioned today across the street from where I'm staying.  It's being handled by the Dean Agency, through an association with Auction.com.  I haven't had any … (2 comments)

real estate in the outer banks: You Can Never Get Away From Real Estate - Darn It! - 07/25/10 03:00 PM
So, I'm on a vacation this week in the Outer Banks.  It was a long drive from South Jersey to North Carolina.  The last part of the journey was the longest.  It took over two hours to complete the last 37 miles.
Bumper-to-bumper.......
I'm no stranger of the tenant 'change-out' at the shore on Saturdays.  Been-there-done-that so many times at the Jersey Shore.  But this trek took the cake, for sure.  The traffic was astounding.
No sooner did I arrive, take my shoes off to relax than our host encouraged us to walk across the street to view a foreclosure house … (7 comments)
