Mortgage Rates Hit All Time Low - 11/15/10 09:05 AM
The average interest rate on a 30-year fixed rate mortgage has fallen to a new low – a paltry 4.17% (w/ 0.8 points), according to Freddie Mac’s Primary Mortgage Market Survey. The 15-year fixed rate mortgage is now at 3.57% (w/ 0.8 points).
Rates fell after the Federal Reserve recently announced it will buy up to $600 billion in government securities. For context, the monthly mortgage payment on a $250,000 loan at 4.17% (assuming $500 in annual homeowner’s insurance and $3500 in annual property taxes) is approximately $1,308.
