lavender: Lavender Sachets for those special clients!

I am so fortunate to have a few lavender bushes in my yard (I purchased 2 more this past summer also).. I love the fragrance of lavender, and it is nice to place in my various garment drawers so that special aroma can permeate everything… But I have so much! SO, each year, I will pick the lavender stalks, dry the seeds, and then package them into little sachets and share with my friends and t clients alike to let them know that they are special to me, and just as seeds represent growth and life, they are also symbolic of the growth of our (21 comments)
lavender: New Rochelle is Blooming Lovely!

Living in New Rochelle, 10804 is blooming lovely this time of year, and I have the lavender sachets to prove it! Last year I found great delight in drying out the lavender from my garden, and making lavender sachets for friends and clients alike. It is an easy process, first you let the lavender dry for a few weeks, and then you separate the seeds from the twigs... a few twigs are okay - they smell nice too.... you then add some lavender oil, place into cute bags, and there you have it! I have lived in New Rochelle for over 30 years and, in having a nice garden, I would admire my lavender bushes every year ... but then would do nothing about it! Shame on me! This year, I cut off the lavender, allowed it to dry over the course of several weeks, and then placed the lavender seeds into a plastic bag with a few drops of essential lavender oil. I then let it cure for several weeks. The result? A heady smell of lavender that will nicely perfume your underwear and even sock (2 comments)
