A local Watervliet, NY based branch of the Norton/Saint-Gobain company has been helping the USA Luge team for years by supplying the industrial-grade sandpaper used during the Olympics on the USA Luge sled's steel runners. I had a home inspection on a listing, yesterday. It was a lovely home that sold very quickly, and I knew would inspect well.
While the inspector was doing some checking in the attic the buyer, her Realtor and I sat and talked. Curious, as are most buyers, about the sellers of the home they were purchasing, the buyer said she had looked up the previous owner's obituary. What she found was the life story of a man who had touched many people and had shown exceptional courage and kindness, even while being wheelchair bound for years.

In yet another employment coup for the Upstate NY's Tech Valley, this week GLOBALFOUNDRIES announced plans to build an R&D technology development center at its Fab 8 location in Luther Forest, Malta, NY. This will increase its already hefty investment in the area to more than $8 billion dollars.
GLOBALFOUNDRIES says that since it began the Fab 8 facility, it has brought 2,000 jobs to the area. The new center is projected to bring in another 1,000 by the end of 2014. Tax Grievance season has arrived at the Town of Malta, NY. You may bring in your forms and backup information to them from now through May 22, 2012. They recommend that you drop your paperwork off early. The information you bring in will then be given to the Board of Assessment Review.
