homeowners: Who's on base? or What does an Insurance Binder cover?

Sellers home owners insurance expired The sellers counted on the home closing by a certain date as stated in the contract since the homeowners insurance cancellation coincided with that date. Well we got to the closing table and it turns out the buyers lender had not counted on the redisclosure rules delaying the sale another week. The seller has limited funds and does not want to shell out more money on insurance at this point (no escrow). The buyer and the buyer's insurance agent assures me that the binder for the buyers insurance policy will cover the home for the extra … (2 comments)
