Pre-licensing courses required by most states don't really prepare agents for "life on the streets." Most new agents I've met (including myself), begin their careers without an practical knowledge of how to do their jobs. It's easy for them to feel "lost" and fearful that they may do or say something improper. Broker training courses can fill the gap, but not all companies offer a systematic approach to training geared toward ensuring that new agents have the skills and knowledge they need to serve the public and stay out of trouble. The revisions to the Code of Ethics for 2007 have been released. Upon reading the revised Code, I was struck once again by the poetry of the Preamble. Please take a moment to re-read it and quietly regard our awesome responsibility to the public and the honor of providing service. "Under all is the land.
