Broadway Lake Broadway Lake is a 300 acre lake on Broadway Creek in Anderson County in Upstate South Carolina. It is a small lake, not really the lake for a cigarette boat like Hartwell Lake but it is quiet and the water levels are usually higher. You can find Catfish, Crappie, Largemouth Bass, Striped Bass and if you believe the news stories that ran in the summer of 2008 there was a gator! In an effort to ensure a sustainable future for high quality recreational fishing at Broadway Lake, Anderson County Council recently approved new bag limits for fishermen. These limits were recommended by the Broadway Lake Advisory Board, an oversight committee appointed by County Council. New Bag Limits: 5 Large Mouth Bass/Day 15 Crappie/Day 15 Bream/Day On Thursday, December 3, the SC Department of Natural Resources (DNR) released 125,000 bluegill fingerlings into their new home at Broadway Lake in Anderson County. The SC Department of Natural Resources released 125,000 bluegill fingerlings yesterday into Broadway Lake in Anderson County. The bluegill, which averaged about 1-inch in length, were in excellent condition when released into the lake. The DNR is also checking into possibly obtaining some redear sunfish fingerlings for Broadway Lake. Also they are planning on releasing approximately 15,000 largemouth bass fingerlings in spring 2010. So it sounds like there will be some pretty good fishing on Broadway Lake next year. broadway lake: Broadway Lake SC Spill Gate is Repaired

You may remember way back in March when heavy rains took a toll on the spillgate at Broadway Lake. Well I am glad to say it has finally been repaired and is back in service. The gates were sealed Monday and the lake is now slowly going back to its more normal level. It may take about 2 days of rain to get the lake back to its normal level. The gate project cost $74,000 and was completed five days ahead of schedule which I am sure made the residents of Broadway Lake very happy. … (2 comments)

On a hot day like today, who wouldn't like to be enjoying the cool mountain breezes from the Highest Point in South Carolina? Or maybe you would prefer cooling off in one of the many lakes we have in Upstate SC? It might be hard to decide which one! There is Broadway Lake, Lake Secession, Hartwell Lake, Lake Keowee and Lake Jocassee. But there are also the great places such as Table Rock State Park that would be a great way to spend the day. You may remember me talking about the spillgates on Broadway Lake being damaged and it appears that according to an article in the Independent that bids have come in well under the $100000 that was allowed to repair or replace the spill gate. There was not an article on the Friends of Broadway Lake website about this recent news but I would believe the Independent article to be true, especially since it quoted Friends of Broadway Lake president John Steely in the short article.
