marketing: Internet Advertising To Exceed All other Ad Media by 2011. - 08/07/07 04:10 AM
I remember when I first started working with Internet Advertising. Everyone assumed I was responsible for sending them spam emails about porn and viagra. The common belief was that Internet advertising was a niche trend that most businesses were not involved. Obviously that has changed quite a bit in the last 10 years or so. Almost every industry is spending more and more money on Internet advertising. According to a post over at Search Engine Land VSS has released a study that forecasts that Internet Advertising will be the dominant advertising medium by 2011.
Many people prefer Internet advertising for many reasons. … (5 comments)

marketing: If life gives you lemons you make lemonade - 08/01/07 01:07 AM

The idea for this post came to me last night while watching ESPN. As many sports fans know Barry Bonds is very close to tying and breaking Hank Aaron's MLB home run record. Most sports fans also know this is a very touchy and controversial subject for the MLB leadership. On one hand Bonds is breaking the most coveted record in baseball, and to many all of sports, but the whole steroid suspicion issue is putting a huge cloud over his achievement. Bud Selig and MLB has been struggling with how they are going to celebrate/deal with him reaching this milestone. … (0 comments)

marketing: Source of Title Blog Responds to Poizner - 06/11/07 01:33 AM
Steve Poizner, the insurance commissioner for the California Department of Insurance, recently stated that "the title industry is broken." In many respects he is correct and I, for one, agree with many of his recommendations. Especially the idea that title insurance companies need to change themselves. He wants to offer title insurers a chance to clean themselves up before creating more regulations. IMO this is the way to go and let's hope that the title companies in California get the message.
Roberto Franco at the Source of Title Blog has a new post discussing some if his ideas. I agree with … (20 comments)

marketing: Touchscreen Coffee Table: How Could Real Estate Professionals Benefit - 05/30/07 08:19 AM
So I have been reading a bunch of stories about the new Milan Table from Microsoft. If you have not heard it is a touchscreen computer set in a coffee table. At first it seems like a frivolous toy but after watching the video it appears that there are almost limitless options for use in retail and even office settings. Take a look at the video here. My first reaction was "WOW!!". It is a pretty cool idea. Then I started thinking about how it could be used in the real estate business world. IMO there are some pretty neat ways … (4 comments)

marketing: Yahoo Update - 05/24/07 01:38 AM

Yahoo Search Blog reported that they were in the process of updating their search index. I usually don't pay too much attention to Yahoo but I recently noticed a pretty significant increase in the number of visitors coming from Yahoo so I did some investigation. Unlike the last few Yahoo updates this one treated me very well. Our site had a pretty significant rise up the SERP on a number of different keywords.
You may want to check your stats and look at some rankings to see how your sites did. Obviously, Yahoo is not nearly as important as Google but diversification … (5 comments)

marketing: Why do Title Insurance Companies Try to Hide? - 03/29/07 02:30 AM
It never fails. Whenever I meet someone new and the talk moves on to what I do for a living they invariably ask me "What is title insurance?". Now there are a few people who have an idea about what it is or have at least heard of it but for the most part the general public has no idea. Maybe I am cynical but it almost seems like most title insurance companies want to keep the public in the dark about what they do. I may be wrong but the fact that most companies do not market to consumers in … (2 comments)

marketing: Cyber World Business Opportunity? - 03/26/07 02:32 AM
It seems that Coldwell Banker has no entered the Second Life Marketplace as a real estate broker for the virtual world. An article on CNN explains how Coldwell Banker has entered Second Life as a virtual real estate broker and how it plans to position itself. The article states that they wanted to be involved in the virtual world and use their presence as something more than an advertising platform.
I am not really sure what to think of this. On one hand it seems that with the rise of Second Life and other virtual worlds it may actually be a profitable … (0 comments)
