The FED lowered interest rate again today. While this will hit the headlines as great news, I am viewing it as a  a double edged sword . On one hand this will potentially help the real estate market. Lower interest rates could help move cautious buyers of the fence. It could help create a refi boom for my lender friends. While it will be seen as a proactive move by our government to prevent a recession I have to wonder how did we get here? and Are we letting the culprits off Scott free?

Last fall the National Association of Realtors came out with their new campaign. "Now is a good time to  buy or sell a house" It was a one size fits all message that they wanted us all to adopt. Well the question that I want to ask is it really a good time to buy or sell a home?

While many areas of the country have seen declining home prices Overland Park KS has held it's ground. While not every area of the city saw a price gain many subdivisions did show a gain. NAR set's up new site to help combat media - 01/17/08 09:14 AM
I just picked up from Realty Times that NAR has introduced a new website to help combat all of the negative media coverage. The site is touting the long term benefits of homeownership.
What I want to know is when were they planning on telling us. I guess the public must be tired of their "Now is a great time to buy or sell" campaign, so they rushed this new campaign into place.

Overland Park 1/8 cent sales tax? - 01/16/08 04:08 PM
Overland Park has a mail in ballot initiative this month, they want to continue a 1/8 cent tax that was initially approved by voter's in 1998. It was then re-authorized again in 2003. The current tax is set to expire in March 2009. The money raised by this tax is used for residential street improvements and construction of new residential streets. This tax will add a penny for every $8 spent in Overland Park.

I had my home for sale with an agent when I received a call from another realtor telling me that my Home expired. What do you mean my Home expired? Did I forget to cover it is Saran wrap? We are constantly bombarded with the words real estate bubble, subprime mortgage mess, liquidity crisis. What we have had a hard time finding out about is the truth. Yes, certain areas of the country have been hit hard by falling prices in real estate, foreclosures and not enough money to finance potential buyer's. However, Overland Park & Leawood zip codes 66224 are not one of those places. Home sales continue to be brisk with sale prices showing very little change from the prior year. We have all heard the excuses, it's the media, it's the subprime mess, it's the economy. We got really tired of all of the excuses at our office, so we came up with a simple philosophy for 2008. Be a winner, not a whiner.
We have the ability to combat any negative press, there is plenty of mortgage money available and no matter how bad anyone wants to portray the economy their are houses selling every day.
