real estate students: Restaurant Review: Oma Bap - 08/07/13 06:37 AM
Today’s restaurant review for our Bellevue real estate students features one of our go-to lunch spots: Oma Bap. This casual Korean eatery opened in 2011 and quickly became an office favorite, even among co-workers who were unfamiliar with Korean food. In fact, Oma Bap offers a great introduction to some traditional Korean dishes. Our favorite item is their version of Korea’s national dish, bi bim bap: a rice bowl topped with a variety of vegetables, egg, and either bulgogi (beef), chicken, spicy pork, or tofu. Add your choice of mild or spicy sauces, mix everything together, and dig in! Bi bim … (0 comments)

real estate students: Restaurant Review: Persepolis - 08/14/12 01:48 AM
Today we’re reviewing a spot that is especially convenient for our Bellevue real estate students: Persepolis Specialties and Café, located right here in our office complex. Persepolis consists of a small specialty grocery store featuring Persian and Mediterranean items, and a café serving a rather eclectic mix of Persian, Thai, and American dishes. We tried the gyro sandwich (seasoned grilled meat, onion, lettuce, and tomatoes, wrapped in flatbread with cucumber-yogurt sauce) and the Persian kubideh sandwich (marinated ground beef kabobs with onions, lettuce, pickles, and tomatoes on a foot-long French roll). Both were tasty—and huge!

real estate students: What's Your Favorite Real Estate Tech? - 04/27/12 01:40 AM
A couple of months ago we surveyed our Fundamentals class asking why people were going into a real estate these days. (You can see our blog entry summarizing the results here.) With the real estate market picking up a bit, we’re inspired!

A few weeks ago we spotted an article in Inman News summarizing the results of a survey on tech use among real estate agents. The story reported that “75 percent of the 110 real estate professionals who participated  . . . selected ‘iPad presentation’ as the marketing tool they would most like to have.”

real estate students: Restaurant Review: Yeh Yeh’s - 04/11/12 05:38 AM
For today’s restaurant review, we ventured to Yeh Yeh’s, a relative newcomer to the neighborhood. Yeh Yeh’s specializes in banh mi, a.k.a. Vietnamese sandwiches: airy toasted French baguettes stuffed with marinated grilled meat (or tofu), pickled daikon radish and carrot shreds, crunchy slices of cucumber and jalapenos, and sprigs of fresh cilantro. Banh mi are known for being delicious, filling, and inexpensive—and Yeh Yeh’s offerings are no different. A tasty, generously-sized grilled pork sandwich costs a mere $3.85.
If you’re in the mood for a more traditional sandwich filling, options include BBQ brisket, Philly-style cheesesteak, and pastrami sandwiches. And if you … (2 comments)

real estate students: Restaurant Review: Taqueria El Rinconsito - 03/13/12 05:40 AM
Today we're reviewing another quick, inexpensive lunch option for our Bellevue real estate students: Taqueria El Rinconsito. Located in an unassuming strip mall just a few blocks from our office, El Rinconsito is a very casual eatery, complete with blaring music and fast-food restaurant plastic booth seating. But what it lacks in atmosphere, it makes up for in flavor, featuring a large menu of authentic, tasty Mexican fare. Our standby orders include the carne asada (grilled steak) soft tacos and the carnitas (fried pork) burrito, but other favorite dishes include the mulitas (two flat fried corn tortillas stuffed with meat, jack … (2 comments)

real estate students: Restaurant Review: Los Chilangos - 11/08/11 03:10 AM
Here's another restaurant review, to help our Bellevue real estate students find good eats!
One of our favorite new lunch spots isn’t technically a restaurant—it’s a taco truck. We’re big fans of mobile food trucks, so we were thrilled when Los Chilangos recently set up shop across the street from our office complex. Like most taco trucks, Los Chilangos offers carne asada (steak), pollo (chicken), and cabeza (beef cheek) tacos, but our favorite is the tacos al pastor: small, soft corn tortillas, piled high with marinated, spit-roasted pork and garnished with chopped onion, cilantro, and fresh pineapple. Add a squeeze of … (0 comments)

real estate students: Restaurant Review: Pho Tai - 10/04/11 04:15 AM
We offer a number of live-lecture classes (both prelicense and continuing education) here at Rockwell, and one question we hear over and over from our students is…"Where's a good place to eat lunch?" We’ll be profiling a number of local restaurants over the coming months.Today’s featured spot is Pho Tai.
Fall officially arrived a few weeks ago, and it’s cold, gray, and rainy here in Bellevue today—making a hot bowl of soup from Pho Tai even more appealing than usual. For those of you who don’t know, pho (pronounced “fuh”) is a Vietnamese beef and rice noodle soup, topped with cilantro … (0 comments)

real estate students: Real Estate Instructor of the Month: Paula Crandall - 09/29/11 09:42 AM
Welcome to our Instructor of the Month series: every month (or so), we’ll feature an interview with a real estate instructor who uses Rockwell materials. This month, we’re talking with Paula Crandall, who teaches our Real Estate Fundamentals course at our Bellevue, WA facility.
Rockwell: What do you like best about teaching real estate?
Paula: The STUDENTS! Each individual student brings a special perspective to the class. It's great fun to get to know them and what has brought them to this place in their lives. Many have been out of school for a long time, and for some of them, school … (0 comments)

We've learned a lot over the years about getting a real estate license and studying for license exams, and we've often got news about changes in real estate laws and regulations. So we’ll let our writers and instructors share some of their wisdom and pass on the answers to some of our common student questions.
