They want to sell you the house...(now I earn my money) - 12/15/10 07:27 PM
The following is an example of a hypothetical situation. All home purchases are unique. This is shared to expose there is much more to representing buyers than offering a tour of homes. This is your goal Well, you have finally decided on a home. You have visited several homes over the past month or so. I have been by your side, watching you, listening to you and helping you narrow your search until you found "the one". Sure, there has been lots of frustration. You remember the homes we visited. We went over the listings together. I tried to tell

A boy becomes a man in a Kodak Moment - 12/15/10 10:55 AM
In the quiet of her first night, a boy became a man It was the fall of the year. My son, long since transplanted to Fort Lauderdale, Florida was expecting his first child. We stayed in contact daily and the time grew close. Then I received the call, "Dad, we are on the way to the hospital. I will call as soon as the baby is born." We waited. Hours passed and the sunny fall afternoon slipped into twilight. We waited as dusk crept into night. We waited. Early in the next

You could have heard a pin drop. - 12/14/10 04:16 PM
I don't re-blog often and I know some will find this a rather jingoistic sounding post. I just think that this is worth reading and understanding that those that look down their nose at us might need to stop and think. Via Rich Sellers Realtor DRE#01148405 (Rich Sellers Lake Arrowhead, CA (Coldwell Banker)): At a time when our president and other politicians tend to apologize for our country's prior actions, here's a refresher on how some of our former patriots handled negative comments about our country.

Holiday Miracles - 12/13/10 12:23 PM
Christmas in Peru Christmas in 2010 is fast approaching. It will but a week later that this year comes to a close. For sure, there are agents out there that feel this was a terrific year and next year looks to be even better. Most agents are not in that position. A lot of us quietly harbor a fear that we really don't know what tomorrow will bring much less what might occur in 2011. It is a scary time to be a real estate agent. It is a scary time to work in any profession

Need to rent in Montgomery County...Contact Us - 12/13/10 10:17 AM
Helping Renters Find A Home Those that rent homes have leases. The terms of the lease include, among other things, the amount and term of the lease. In Montgomery County, most residential leases are for one year, although the option of a two year lease is supposed to be offered. There are apartments, condos, town homes and single family homes available to rent in many areas of the county. The majority of apartments are managed by a leasing company and applications are made directly to the resident manager in the on-site office. Other rentals are handled through a myriad of fashions.

If tomorrow never comes - 12/12/10 10:17 AM
The real estate industry is changing. Buzz words like "traditional broker" and "brick and mortar office" are creeping into discussions about what used to be. New thoughts and theories abound regarding the direction the industry will take as recovery from our 5 year nightmare begins. What will tomorrow bring? I can only guess. If you step back and look at other industries, you can see that change is inevitable. The economies of scale has been accused of creating a landscape that is hostile to "mom and pop" companies from coast to coast. I am not an

Do you hear what I hear? - 12/11/10 04:33 PM
Reaction to the economy So, you sit there and listen to the talking heads proclaim the economy is beginning to show signs of life. The NAR continues to trumpet that home prices are down and interest rates are at historical lows. Oh, and the future looks bleak because interest rates will probably go up, so now is the time to buy. Pent up demand will create an onslaught of buyers Well, that's what the brokers are saying. They use logic to point out that people are still getting married, having babies, getting divorced, transferring from out of town, etc.

Get Stoned for Christmas - 12/10/10 01:16 PM
Rosetta Stone SPANISH/Latin America V3 LEVEL 1,2&3 BRAND NEW IN BOX It was only a couple of years ago when I realized that having more than a fleeting understanding of Spanish would be very helpful in real estate. I had taken a few of those quicky courses offered by brokers. It wasn't long before I realized that "casa" and"dormitorio" where just the tip of the iceberg. Hola seemed to be the beginning and end of my understanding. Yes, I did sit through 10 weeks of remedial Spanish for Real Estate Agents. It didn't help. I kept hearing these commercials for Rosetta

7 come 11..a roll of the dice, gambling on our weakness - 12/07/10 12:04 PM
Historically, people have rolled dice betting on the outcome. I was educated in a parochial school (Saint John the Evangelist in Silver Spring, MD). That was a long time ago but I still remember some of the lessons I learned at the feet of the good Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. I also recall lessons learned daily at recess. It was a simpler time when television was broadcast over 3 channels in black and white. I had to pass Heitmueller's farm each day as I walked to and from school. The land that would be filled with Wheaton

Rent to Own? Before you ask ... - 12/06/10 10:33 AM
I get a lot of emails and phone calls from folks that want to know if I can find them a home to rent with an option to purchase. They have been on the internet, surfing, dreaming and hoping against hope that they can find a home to rent that will also be available for purchase at the end of their lease. Now, some of them may have tried to purchase a home and found that they did not have the resources. Maybe they discovered that lenders have a higher bar than the FHA requires. It can be quite confusing

Online shopping...instant gratification ? Not so fast grasshopper! - 12/01/10 09:52 AM
It's that time of the year. The world wide web is the vehicle of choice for more and more holiday shoppers. The big deal this year is "free shipping". Hmmm, you don't have to drive to the mall. You don't have to find a place to park. You don't have to wade through crowds. You don't have to sort through misplaced merchandise. You don't have to fight anyone for your purchase. You don't have to spend time looking for items that are sold out. You don't have to stand in a line that stretches out the door. You don't
