Fun in Philadelphia at the Pre-Party with Active Rain! - 11/30/10 08:50 AM
Well, a picture is worth at least one thousand words and this photo says it all!  I finally got to meet Sheldon Neal and he's even nicer in person, if that is at all possible.  What an incredible treat to meet him and the others that I've gotten to know so well here at Active Rain.
One of my best gal pals, Liz Facenda, came along with me to the Northern Liberties section of Philadelphia to the Pre-Party hosted by Christoper and Stephanie Somers and Jeff Belonger.  The service at the restaurant was great and the food very tasty, but … (19 comments)

What are you reading? November's Book Review - 11/29/10 03:51 PM
As a lifelong reader, I often feel somewhat lonely after I finish a really good book.  That's how I am feeling right now, having finished The Help, by Kathryn Stockett.

I became very attached to the main characters in this book and while it seems childish and somewhat embarrassing to admit, I do this a lot.  Since I was a child I've befriended the characters and entered wholeheartedly into the story of their lives as if they were friends sitting at my table.  Reading has always been my escape, my sanity and something that I look forward to, no matter how … (13 comments)

Thankful Thanksgiving Weekend! An update. - 11/27/10 07:36 PM
For some reason I never got around to writing a Thanksgiving day Thankful Thursday post.  Of all days!  My little momma is visiting and she was busy directing me around my kitchen, teaching me how to make stuffing (I don't eat it so I've never paid much attention to how she makes it).  This is the first time I've ever actually stuffed a turkey with my own hands and I have to be honest here... I'm not looking forward to repeating the experience!  My mom has a certain way of making everything taste heavenly and she is intent on making sure … (15 comments)

Thankful Thursday, 11/18/10 - 11/18/10 06:21 PM
I am treating myself to having most of the rooms on my first floor painted.  The woman painting for me is a lovely woman from church, Irene McFadden.  Her company is called Dress For Less Walls, and she is doing a super job.
I have a bit of a history with Irene McFadden.   She is very involved in our church and I first met her when my older son was in pre-school at the church.  We didn't attend the church at that time, but Michael attended at ages 3, 4 and 5.  He also used to attend the vacation … (16 comments)

Thankful Thursday, 11/11/10, Nobody is Perfect! - 11/11/10 04:04 PM
Of course, just after I say it almost always rains on Thursdays when I deliver Meals on Wheels, I wake to an absolutely stunner of a sunny day today!  Simply gorgeous and something for which I am very thankful for!
Max had an orthodontist appointment today before school today and on the way to school after his appointment, he was telling me about a friend who was having some minor surgery tomorrow.  His friend is going to have to spend the night and I was telling Max that when his older brother had some surgery a few years ago, I … (14 comments)

Gorgeous East Goshen Skies, Autumn in Chester County - 11/10/10 10:04 AM
While working at my home office, I heard my 14 year old exclaim at the beauty of the sky outside our front door.  Chester County is truly one of the most beautiful places, in every season.  Autumn is particularly beautiful and the sunsets in all seasons can take your breath away.
This photo is completely untouched.  This is just how beautiful it is in our neck of the woods.  Looking to relocate to Chester County?  I'd love to show you around.

Customer Service. In a challenging market, you need customer service. - 11/08/10 09:56 AM
I recently met an agent who is fairly new to the real estate industry, and is taking it by storm.  I meet these kinds of agents from time to time.  They burst onto the scene and through smart business savvy, become quite successful in a very short amount of time.  It's at about this time that they decide they are too busy to take buyers out.  Or they won't take a listing under $500,000.  Or that their time is too precious to provide fellow agents with feedback when showing their listings.  Because of their quick success, they start to think they know … (18 comments)

Thankful Thursday, 11/4/10, Susan Mangigian and the no good dreary and yucky day! - 11/04/10 01:48 PM
I deliver Meals on Wheels every Thursday and I know I've said it before, but it rains almost every single Thursday.  Not during the summer, when a cooling rain would actually be a welcome relief.  Only in the winter, when it gets raw and dreary does Mother Nature decide that into my life, a lot of rain must fall, all of it on Thursdays.
I love the folks on my route. My first stop always has a joke for me.  I usually knock a certain code and he either finishes it on the other side of the door or opens it … (14 comments)
