san antonio texas: Lazy Longhorn - Speechless Sunday - 08/08/10 03:52 PM

Ahh-
Another sunny Sunday in San Antonio and the living is easy for those with no social schedule (that we can imagine), no church-going, no errands and no Sunday dinner to prepare!

Just a day spent lazing with friends, enjoying the country air and snacking their way through the afternoon...

I know that there must be a Margarita somewhere (for those who indulge), or it wouldn't be San Antonio!
I hope that your day was rich with quiet company and beautiful scenery!

san antonio texas: Made In The Shade - Friday Photo - 08/06/10 03:23 PM
Even on a hot August day here in San Antonio, Texas, it is always possible to find a quiet spot to cool off and enjoy a little spot of beautiful countryside. This little bit of serenity can be found right along a road on the Northwest side of town - about 5 minutes drive from Loop 1604.

Here's hoping that you can make time this weekend to get out and enjoy the great outdoors!

san antonio texas: HELLO! Happy Hour !!! - 07/13/10 02:27 PM

I just received an e-mail from a former client who writes for a newspaper in another city.  Periodically, this individual writes articles about San Antonio, Texas;, so they sent me a note inquiring about our "insider knowledge of the city" and the "secret, special places" that we take clients.  The Riverwalk restaurants were of particular interest.
The writer was so disappointed when I told her that with our work schedule in the current market; dining out (especially at 10pm when we have finished negotiating deals, searching properties and producing ad copy), with our clients isn't always possible - especially … (17 comments)

san antonio texas: I Know What You Did Last Night - 03/28/10 06:09 AM
Or do I?  I never know what my mom is up to.
Steve and I spent Friday night at the Emergency Room at Metropolitan Methodist here in San Antonio.  My mom had a fall on Monday night and decided that Friday in the late afternoon was a good time to tell me about it!  She was experiencing dizziness, headaches and nausea and didn't know that those were signs of concussion.  Oh boy!
The staff at the hospital was fantastic - from the nice young woman in Admissions to the doctors there, they took care of everything, including the CAT scan.  There … (7 comments)

san antonio texas: Wordless Wednesday - Seen along the road - 03/24/10 05:00 PM
Yesterday, I was caught at a light along the Loop 1604 frontage road here in north central San Antonio and as I looked out my car window, I spied some bluebonnets and other wildflowers.

A lot of time, newcomers to San Antonio, Texas don't realize how excited we get about the wildflowers - the city mowing schedule works around them!  This photo shows how green our area will be for until about Thanksgiving when we have our "dry" season.  It's a truly beautiful area!

san antonio texas: Almost Spring - Wordless Wednesday - 02/10/10 03:14 PM
Despite glacial (40 degree days here ARE considered near-freezing in this part of Texas), temperatures today in San Antonio.  You can see it coming in the faint greening of the grass and the hint of new leaves in the trees.
Spring is headed our way here in San Antonio!

Soon there will be birds tweeting, crocuses blooming and fuzzy ducklings paddling.  I can't wait!

san antonio texas: Speechless Sunday - if I could be anywhere right now... - 11/22/09 01:38 PM
Somehow an overcast day in San Antonio, Texas seems a bit dreary, while one on an Oranjestad beach in Aruba seems full of portent for the sun to shine. it makes you think...

How many things in our lives could we view more optimistically?
Do we spend enough time expecting the sun to shine soon?

san antonio texas: Just When We Thought Exercise was Good for Us... - 11/09/09 04:09 AM
A funny thing happened on the way to get more exercise:
I was on a Southwest flight headed back to sunny San Antonio, Texas. In a non-home-selling moment , I was scanning the in-flight magazine. In the back of my mind, I've been thinking of taking a bit more time to myself and (gasp!), getting "some" (unfortunately, the commonly-used term "more", is simply not applicable), exercise. That segued into a thought that all of my athletic shoes need to be replaced. (My daughter, Darcy, a former high school track champ, could no doubt give me some stats on how I am abusing my … (4 comments)

san antonio texas: It's Butterfly Month in South Texas - San Antonio - 10/18/09 01:54 PM
We're not just all about Longhorn Steers & such...Texas is the #1 state for Butterflies!
Yep- Butterflies.  425 species of the 725 known in the US reside here- or pass through at least, during migration.  Yeah, some migrate from as far as the tropics at this time of year.  We actually have people flocking here to spot the cute little critters, and that's not too hard, since the butterflies seem to flock too!  This last week seems to have been the height of the season, with swarms all over the place.
Butterfly gardens are springing up all across the state, especially in … (5 comments)

san antonio texas: How Friendly is Too Friendly? - 10/09/09 05:18 PM
It's always an adventure  when we're out showing property to our clients, especially when they are from out of state and we're trying to give them a little of the flavor of Texas.

Not so long ago, Steve and I were house-hunting with Carlos, his wife Arlina and their charming family, including 2 teenagers; and driving through a new home development.  We came to the home that we wanted to view and it was apparent by the light in Arlina's eyes that it was the just right one.  It had space for everyone, an open kitchen, a big master bedroom and trees in the yard; perfect for the landscaping that … (8 comments)

san antonio texas: PATIENCE IS A POWERFUL FORCE! - 10/06/09 02:59 PM
Today, I was in-flight on my way with Steve to RainCamp and I got so bored.  I had nothing to do but get out a notebook and reflect on my lack of PATIENCE.

It's ironic that when I was a kid in California, patience was such a focus of my parents.  Phrases like "maybe tomorrow" and "we'll see" were life's constants.  As much as it exasperated me, I am now reaping the benefits of PATIENCE.  In our San Antonio real estate office, more and more, I am reminding my Buyers and Sellers to be PATIENT because...
PATIENCE IS A POWERFUL FORCE!
