The Maywood community is one of Arlington’s oldest neighborhoods and an example of a “trolley neighborhood” because its development was tied to the development of commuter railroads that served the area from 1906 to 1934. It was initially planned in five sections, with its primary development taking place between 1909 and 1929. It is bounded by Lorcom Lane, Lee Highway, Oakland St., and I-66. The initial platting for the neighborhood began in 1909 and consisted of single family homes.
