Traffic is really a challenge on Blanco Road north of Loop 1604 during rush hour. If you've ever been creeping along at a pace that would not be a challenge to a slightly paunchy, middle-aged walker, you have seen a creeping pace.
When we moved to San Antonio back in 1997, Blanco Road was two lanes from Bitters Road all the way to Highway 46. Then the segment from Bitters to just past Loop 1604 was expanded to four lanes. I can remember traffic back ups that caused. We'd cut through Deerfield subdivision to escape the tie-ups. Eventually, the road work was finished.
I'm no traffic engineer, but it seems that when the current Blanco Road improvement is finished, we should have traffic relief for some years to come. This assumes that Camp Bullis remains a federal government property. If that's the case, most land west of BlancoRoad in Bexar County cannot be developed for residential use. That keeps the numbers of cars down in terms of local residents. That means getting to and from Timberwood Park from Loop 1604 will be a much shorter commute.
Update, here, Jan 2010.
