Cindy, thanks, I do a lot of quilts for charity and hang on a couple of quilting sites when I can. This was a mystery quilt from a gal in Canada. I was late starting and knew the reveal. The quilt really goes together quickly. I have shirts gathered needing to be cut for the next one. I think a quilt this size makes a nice gift. (Hubby has dibs on this one!) cw
It's been so long since I quilted, I wonder if I even could do it anymore! It was fun to see your project, I think I just might have to go finish up one of my many unfinished projects, I miss doing my handwork.
Janna, quilters love to be encouraging. Dig out your UFO's and crack your knuckles, call a friend to come clean the house and start exploring you inner crafting mam-ma. I want to see pictures of what you pull out to work on.
ps I have a quilting group on the rain, I need to work harder at getting peers to post there. see ya in the rain, cw
Love the quilt Cheryl and you admitted all your mistakes - that was me ( not signed in)
Kathy, I always admitt the oopsies b/c you never know when someone down the line will try duplicate it. There are so many groups in the rain, I was looking to post to one of my favorites. I need to tie it in to the career somehow and then I will have it made- blogging two hats at the same time. Throw in some grandkids and a trip or two and that's my world in print!- thanks for stopping by- hope to see ya in the rain. cw
Very cool, I come from a long line of quilters, seamstresses, crocheters, knitters, needleartists of all variety, and I didn't learn how to do more than sew a button on! I do appreciate your talents!
Marantino- you have so many talents, I am suprised that the quilting bug as not visitied you yet. I am a very primitive artist- meaning that my 1/4 inch is m/l and I don't stress on what I am making, I just do it. if you get time here is a link to past projects, www.myquiltblog.com/cherylwillis be good cw
Cheryl, I love it! The pattern reminds me of one possible setting of a bowtie quilt. I've always wanted to do a bowtie quilt out of silk ties and oxford cloth, but have been nervous about the difference in weight and texture of the 2 fabrics. I thought maybe if I used a lightweight fusible pellon on the silk, it might make it easier to work with. Has anyone had experience with this kind of quilt?
Dianne- I LOVE Bow-ties! I have made several over the years, One can do a lot with the settings. You gave me an idea: I have a lot of ties that I have been saving for a crazy quilt. (I plan to machine embroidery the designs) anyway, if I paper piece the blocks I can then combine several styles in the same top. cw
Ok Cheryl, I'm here. This one caught my eye because I have a box of old rodeo shirts my boys wore when they were young. The colors are dramatic and I know they would look great in a quilt. Now this project might take me a couple of years, but it's gonna get done.
Wanda, run over to my quilt blog and copy the pattern, it is about the color placement- simple design 9-patch and snowballs. My quilt friend Nancy offered it as a mystery. I cut more shirts to make another and changed my mind. I am going to do a denim and flannel instead. It is always nice to have a fifth place to post, I want to be one of the first to hear about your projects! cw
That's really a neat quilt, I still have the quilt my grandmother gave me for my 18'th birthday, she made and gave all her grandchildren one.... very special....
