Syndicated columnist Michelle Malkin in Thursday's Washington Times wrote:

"What and who exactly are President Obama's homeland security officials afraid of these days? If you are a member of an active conservative group that opposes abortion, favors strict immigration enforcement, lobbies to protect Second Amendment rights, protests big government, advocates federalism, or represents veterans who believe in any of the above, the answer is: You."

Patriotic Americans now pose a threat to the United States government.  There are millions of them, they are everywhere.

Pstationwagoneople who believe the government is too large and taxes its people too much. All those who participated in TEA parties, anti-abortion rallies, those who attend Christian denominational churches, advocate for marriage and family in a traditional manner.  People who realize that the government can not fix everything and should stop trying. If you are returning from active duty, you will be watched very closely because someone might want to recruit your US Miltary trained talent to their anti-USA cause - you are a bigger threat than an illegal immigrant or a Muslim militant.

You do not know where they are hiding, some are even undercover in the very government that is claiming this threat. You can not tell because they vote like all the rest - a very good undercover operation, indeed.

Kathleen,

Hi. I took an oath once upon time to defend the Constitution of the United States against enemies, foreign and domestic. Due to that, I am a potential "scary" person.  You should join my Tea Party group.

Yep leave to someone to use the act of one to tar an entire group of people. Just Saying has just performed a very cowardly act.

I meet about 95% of the criteria listed in the report. I expect that close to half of Americans meet at least 50% of the criteria.

"Yep leave to someone to use the act of one to tar an entire group of people."

You mean like tarring every Muslim extremist with the acts of Osama Bin Laden? Until 911, a right wing veteran was the country's most deadly terrorist in recent memory. And he talked about his victims as "collateral damage", a term the US military has used to describe civilians who are accidently killed duing military missions.

Then you have Eric Rudolph, the Olympics bomber, who was another right wing nutcase. And a military veteran. He only managed to kill one person.  He was one of several "pro-life" terrorists who included a bunch of others who shot doctors, bombed family planning clinics and murdered their staff.

The fact is no one has tarred any group, the memo only identifies areas of concern. There are perfectly legitimate reasons for targetting right wing racists as terrorist threats. They have a long history going back to reconstruction in the late 1800's of using terrorism to achieve their political ends. You may remember the bombing of a church in Birmingham. The folks who did that were mostly veterans as well.

It ought to be obvious that once you have trained people they will sometimes use that training in ways you didn't intend. Lee Harvey Oswald was trained as a sharp shooter in the military.  You can pretend that they are targeting people who dress up in funny costumes and go to protests or post their extreme political beliefs on blogs or who just served their country in the military. But its pretty clear that wasn't who they were talking about.

Dear Just Saying - sorry to response so slowly but my hubby is in the hospital. I think that Muslim extremeists label themselves by their very acts - regardless of Osama- their goal in life is to wipe out the infidels - read the Koran - actually it is not the extremists, it is any Good Muslim who follows their Muslim faith. That is a group, not just na indivudual.

To quote Bill Jones:

In my current affairs class today we discussed the clash between Islam and the west. Samuel P.Huntingdon's 'clash of civilizations' thesis has been much criticized but our conclusions seemed to bear out his analysis. We agreed that a Muslim country would resist the 'imposition' of democracy by the west- the prophet provides the ultimate authority; not, as the western Enlightenment laid down, the people- just as we would resist the imposition of Islam upon our own secular, liberal societies. Given this incompatibility, why don't we just agree to disagree and leave each other alone? Two reasons.

Firstly Islam is an evangelising faith which seeks to convert 'infidels'. In its-arguably distorted- fundamentalist form it is also a vengeful ideology which seeks to destroy those- like us in the west- who have been recruited into the armies of 'The Great Satan'. Ahmadinejad (pictured) of Iran, claims he wants to 'wipe Israel off the map' and is not loath to repeat such threats. So even if we leave them alone, they will not return the compliment. And while the communists during the Cold War accepted 'peaceful coextistence', the latter strain of Islam uses the openness of the west to send or order its cohorts of suicidal fanatics to wreak havoc and murder.

Secondly, Islam entails practices which will never be acceptable to the West. Nowhere is this more the case than in its treatment of women. BBC Newsnight recently showed an inmate of an Afghan jail, Fatima, explaining how she went seeking a new family home. She went to see a housing agent who locked the door, said she been 'sent from God' and then raped her. When she reported it she was found guilty of adultery and imprisoned; the only way she could have been found innocent was for her attacker to confess or for four witnesses to the rape to come forward. When such desparate violations of human rights so regularly occur with impunity under Islam, the west will never view it as anything other than a cruel and alien creed which can never be tolerated let alone adopted. So, reluctantly, and not of our making, a 'clash of civilisations' it appears to be.

I am Pro-Life does that make me a terroirist - does that mean you are Pro-Death - that would be the opposite.

I am not a racist - I am certailnly aware of one's race  (some of us look like Swedes and some don't) but that doesn't affect how I treat someone.

To quote you:

The fact is no one has tarred any group, the memo only identifies areas of concern. There are perfectly legitimate reasons for targetting right wing racists as terrorist threats. They have a long history going back to reconstruction in the late 1800's of using terrorism to achieve their political ends.

I wonder where you fit in!  Apparently you never served in the military, not a Christian, paranoid, have no extreme political beliefs  that you would ever post on a blog, but want to be regarded as tolerant and filled with love.
