Lake Hopatcong is the largest freshwater lake in New Jersey, at Nine miles in length and covered by 2,500 acres of prime fishing fresh water. There are four townships that share the shoreline of Lake Hopatcong - Jefferson Township, Roxbury, Mount Arlington, and, in Sussex County, Hopatcong. Hopatcong's name originates from the Lenni Lenape Indian word "Huppakong" meaning Honey Waters of Many Coves.
Although Lake Hopatcong started out as a vacation community, today many of the area's residents live there year round.
As of May 23, 2007, there are exactly 50 lakefront homes for sale, ranging from your fixxerup to the exquisite lakefront estate, and everything in between.
Look for my daily update on available lakefront homes coming soon on June 1. This feature will be available on my website, www.AntoinettesHomes.com starting June 1, and is meant to offer consumers a quick and easy look at what's available on gorgeous Lake Hopatong.
If you're looking for a home on Lake Hopatcong, you could be faced with a challenge if you're reviewing available homes on the Garden State MLS. Given a search parameter of "lakefront" or "waterfront," the GSMLS will yield 75 homes. But, did you know that many of those homes are NOT located on the main lake, but on the smaller lakes of Jefferson Township or Roxbury? Why shift through listing after listing trying to determine what is MAIN LAKE, LAKEFRONT and what ISN'T?
The best tactic to finding a lakefront home is to work with a motivated and knowledgeable REALTOR who leaves no stone unturned! When it comes to finding the right home for my customer, I review all properties for sale...from FSBO to homes listed by Brokers.
