Platte River 04/28/2009

Tuesday morning is Office Meeting and Tour of our new listings for the week, this morning we crossed over the Platte River on 36 Highway in the east part of St Joseph.

Platte River (2) 04/28/2009

Northwest Missouri has had heavy 2-3 inches of rain in the last few days and the river banks are overflowing, while the Platte River is out of its banks the flooding is considered minor, with some highway closings.

Is the river overflowing or are those some of those special trees that grow in the water like they have in Louisiana and Florida? LOL

Hope the flooding stays minor for y'all.

Howdy there Dona

Sure glad the Platte is behaven its self. And not overflowing big time. I sure do remember so of the times, it flooded big time. Could not get in to some of my good hunting and fishing areas.

Take care of yourself.

Hi Russel...The Platte is rescinding, glad to report.  I like the water lilies in Louisiana they are beautiful, not for sure about trees.

Hi Dale!  Boy you are right there, the Platte has caused lots of flooding in the past, it has even closed I-29 to KC as water was so high.   Fishing and hunting lots of good places around here but you better have a permit...and permission!

You sure are right folks, don't want to be hunten with out a license. I always got a combo license, Muzzleloader and bow tags every year. Did a lot of my bow hunten around the Platte, and Buchanan Counity area's. I sure do miss the size of our Missourah deer. And the size of our Bass.

Did you have a fine Memorial Day weekend?

Hi Dale!  Great Memorial Day weekend, Thanks for asking, and hope yours was too.  It is true, Missouri has quite a few deer and some are huge!  I hope you can come back and visit Buchanan County in the future as many changes have occurred since you left our wonderful state.

Hi June!  It used to be that Spring was the season for rain, but we have had our share and sounds like you have too!  Lets hope it gets back to normal before winter gets here, what do you think?  I hope you have not serious flooding as ours was relative minor.  Thanks for visiting my blog and come back soon.

I guess you just can't contain mother Nature.

Every year, around here, the Chagrin River will overflow it's banks at least once a year, usually during the spring thaw, and wipes out all the houses along the banks. Strange thing is... these people keep on re-building there.

Hi Kevin:  We have not had any major flooding for a couple of years, but we certainly have in the past!  In the mid 1990's the flood was so bad it wiped out the City"s Public Water Station.  I would not want to go through that again, as we were weeks without a public water system.  I never did understand why folks rebuild once they have been flooded out.  They gotta love the land.  Thanks for commenting and hope to see you soon.
