Get A Real Job?

By
Real Estate Agent with Frank Rubi Real Estate

I am one of those new realtors still learning the ropes.  I am fortunate to have an personal friend, who is a broker take me under his wing.  I also work for some of the greatest people I think I have ever met.

Before I became an agent I worked in the healthcare field for over 20 years.  You guys know how old that gets?  Anyway I am now ready to pursue my second career.  This isn't a job, this is fun,  Try saying that in a hospital on a weekend or holiday when everyone else is with thier families.

Anyway, I think it was Patton who said," Lord forgive me but I love it so".  There isn't a better way for me to say it.  I am never going to have a real job ever again.

I think your attitude is great and welcome to our profession! I truly believe that to succeed in real estate, you have to have a real passion for it. However, as for not having a 'real job' myself and my business partner Janie Coffey, have probably never worked so hard at anything, as we are right now running our business!! Real estate is like anything else, you get out of it as much as you put in, but having a genuine love for the business is often what sets apart those who make it from those who do not.

Ditto on the real job aspect.  I've found you have the ability to make your own hours, but if you plan to succeed, you better plan on working a lot too.  It's not the easy money that some people think it is.  We definitely put in our hours.  Sometimes you put in a lot of hours and don't get paid for it.  The love of helping people, and self satisfaction of doing a job well will get you where you want to go.  Best of luck to you!  :-)
