"Making Homes Affordable Program" The REAL TRUTH...it ain't pretty
I hear you, we tried to modify our mortgage too. I don't quite understand why these lenders would want someone to ruin their credit to get help. You would think it would make more sense to help people out, not penalize them for having problems.
The government has rolled out a program "Making Homes Affordable" they even have them a little website and everything! It's a nice website about how the government wants to help homeowners stay in their homes.....all sounds good right..?? WRONG!!
WHAT THEY NEGLECT TO POINT OUT IS....Your lender has to cooperate to make it happen!! (and many are not) Here is the hitch to the get-a-long!
So, I decided to put it to the test...I call my lender..and say...."Hey, I am looking at this governement website...and I would like to modify my loan, we are having difficulties making payments, what do I need to do?" OUT OF THE GATE...I am told "You are NOT BEHIND, YOU DO NOT QUALIFY" What!!!
But the "Making Homes Affordable Website" even says....I don't have to be behind in my mortgage to get help!
Who is my lender you ask.....BANK OF AMERICA......yup..you heard it here...Bank Of America....told me that they could not help because I was a responsible homeowner, who paid my mortgage.....therefore, I am not eligible for assistance..!!!!
So...this "Making Homes Affordable" a bunch of fluff..the government can't control these lenders....Bank Of America does not want to take government money..so they are not obligated by incentives to do.....well....much of anything..in essence,.....So, there you have it folks.... "Making Homes Affordable" the big government program...is pretty much just a website...oh, they do have couselors you can talk to, who are pretty much order takers..and at the end of the phone call, can do nothing.....
They take your information and pass it along to your bank.....big deal! "Making Homes Affordable Program" is a joke......you need to write your Senators and Congressmen and let them know what is really going on.
