Network: Most people hire a Realtor based on a recommendation of a friend or a family member. Get involved by becoming a part of a "community of interest" IE, church, collector car club or a running club. Maintain regular contact with the groups in your network.
Branding yourself: Branding is a concise message and a distinct identity consistently applied. Branding enables consumers to differentiate between the various options available to them. Branding is more than a slogan or a tag line. With little extra effort you can brand yourself rather than just trying to get your name out there.
Brand of your brokerage: Brand of a brokerage like Century21, Remax or even smaller but well established local companies signal credibility to the consumers. Leverage your brokerage brand to make yourself look big.
Specialize: Specialization is a virtue for consumers. Be known for something than just trying to be remembered. "I am a Realtor" makes you look like 500 other Realtors in your town.
Be consistent: keep your message consistent across all media, including websites, business cards, newspapers, letter pads, fax cover sheets and display ads etc.
Act on your plan: A marketing plan is not good if you don't act on it.
A picture is worth how much?: A deal or 2 a year at least. Use current, professional photos of yourself. A head shot is sometimes not enough. Be creative (don't be over creative)
Trying to save a buck or two?: Cheap advertising sends a cheap message. Don't cut corners. Print that post card in color.
