For years California has been a liberal social experiment. High Taxes, liberal politics and environmental policies that hurt both the public and businesses alike. I Ran a company in the late 1990's that quit and I do mean quit, doing business in California all together. Our legal costs were 500% more than all other states combined, while it was a fraction of our business. Our warranty claims ran at a rate of 1000% higher than anywhere else in the world. It was easier to do business overseas than in California.
One in four American mortgages that are "under water", meaning they are worth more than the home itself, are in California.
California's unemployment rate has soared to more than 12%, the highest figure in 70 years.
Los Angeles now has a poverty rate of 20%.
Between 2004 and 2008, half a million residents upped sticks and headed elsewhere. By 2010, California could lose a congressman because its population will have fallen so much - an astonishing prospect for a state that is currently the biggest single political entity in America.
California's attorney-general, Jerry Brown, recently sued one county government for not paying enough attention to global warming when it came to urban planning.
It is clear to anyone who actually pays attention that it is a state issue and not a federal issue. You cannot be all things to all people and survive. California gives away more medical care and services to illegal aliens than any state in the union. They do not build new power plants and make it impossible to do any kind of business in the state.
You don't get billions of dollars in debt and have billions more in revenue short falls overnight. This has been coming for years and years and has been ignored by the state government.
