White Wednesday - Wonderful White Outdoors (Red Lodge, Montana)

The following photos were taken in Red Lodge, Montana after the most recent snow fall.

Here is Kylie in the mud room after being out in the snow.

Here are Sir Barkley and Jester pausing for the photo just before playing with each other in the snow.

Sir Barkley and Jester Out in the Snow - Red Lodge, Montana - October 6, 2009

Here are all three of them in one photo.  The snow falling does not deter them whatsoever from going out for some fresh air.

And it is not just the dogs that seem to have fun out in the snow!

Birds after a Snow Fall - Red Lodge, Montana - October 5, 2009

It is currently quite white in Red Lodge, Montana.  What makes the white outdoors so wonderful is that the temperature is just around 30 degrees Fahrenheit (snow without too much cold).  It becomes even more wonderful when the sun comes out and shines on the snow.

Have a great Wednesday!

A reminder of what's on the way here in the Poconos!  Love the pics, and the greatness of that big, blue Montana sky, and the great community with the animal life.  Are two of the dogs Australian Shepherds?

Michael,

Thank you. We probably have a bit more snow because we are at a higher altitude.  Luckily, we do not have cold temperatures along with the snow and it melts quickly when the sun appears.

Cynthia,

I don't know if it is yellow yarrow but I did want to include int he photo to add some more color.   I am glad you enjoyed the models that I used.   They are my favorites!   :-)

Mary,

Snow is so much more enjoyable when you have dogs wagging their tails to go out and play in it.  The birds where hanging by the bird feeder and I was lucky to catch a good photo of them in the middle of their flight.   Both dogs and birds were fun to watch on this snowy white wednesday!

Liz,

It seemed like we had one dusting after another.  That is how the snow accumulated to the height you see in the photos.   It sure is not a usual scene to see Halloween decorations out in the snow.   There are lots of avid skiers that are excited at the idea that it is going to be a very good skiing season.

Marc,

Enjoy the Fall color season in TO.

I am used to having 3 pair of eyes staring at me and trying to get my attention and affection.  :-)

Sandra,

No need to make a generalization for the entire Montana.  There are still areas in Montana that have not been hit by snow or have only received a dusting.  We live a little higher up here in Red Lodge (altitude 5,555 feet).  We may have snow early, but luckily winter is more milder than in other areas of the country.  On most days, early in the season, most of the snow in town melts by early afternoon when the sun comes up.  Thanks for visiting this post.

Russel,

The hot tubs are in higher demand here with the snow season.  People seem to enjoy it even more being in a hot tub outside and staring at the white scenery created by Mother Nature.

Sharon,

I know what you mean.  Friends of mine have yorkies and they also shovel to create pathways to help them move around the yard after a snow fall.  It sure is fun to realize that snow is not as bad as most think and most dogs like mine seem to love it (running in it as well as licking it and getting quick access to water from the snow melting in their mouths).

Kevin and Monica,

Thank you.  We currently have the snow but not too much chill.  Ideal conditions to play in the snow!

Renée,

All 3 dogs have Australian Shepherds in them.   They each have a post with more details about them.   Here are the links:

Beautiful photos.  The dogs are just beautiful and they are certainly have a ball in the snow.

I like the snow too when it's not too cold, but we rarely see those days here.  We will have snow for a few days, and then we'll be facing 30 below weather for months.  SUCKS! LOL :)

Sylvie,

I know exactly what you mean.  I grew up in Montreal and lived in Toronto for 9 years.   I know that feeling when it gets too cold to enjoy the outdoors.  I remember using PATH as much as I could when I used to live in Toronto (correct me if this is not the name of the underground pathways connecting most building in downtown TO with access to underground shopping and to the subway).

Luckily, where I now live, we get snow but not much of the cold and we have a great mountain nearby (within 10 km) for some great downhill skiing (they say it is like your own private mountain as there are lots of trails and hardly any line-up to use the lifts).  You can check out www.redlodgemountain.com to see some photos and get a better idea of our ski mountain.

Aline,

I am sure they miss you too (especially Barkley).  You are welcome to come visit them any time.  It will be easier as you grow up.  :)

I am glad you liked the photo of the birds in flight taken around the bird feeder.   Now what's up with the different spelling of your last name?   Did Ian catch the chicken?   :)
