Alexandria, Virginia's Four Sister Cities

By
Real Estate Agent with Featuring Susan Craft, CRS, REALTORĀ® - McEnearney Associates

That's right, Alexandria, Virginia has four sister cities designated by Sister Cities International. The four sister cities are:

Gyumri, Armenia

Helsingborg, Sweden.

Dundee, Scotland, United Kingdom

Caen, France

After the 1988 earthquake in Armenia, Alexandria was twinned with Gyumri as a show of goodwill. Armenian architects were invited to study in Virginia. There is also an Alexandria-Gyumri Armenian festival held around City Hall every year in June, the date of which is declared Armenia Day in Alexandria by the mayor.

Caen, France became a sister city in 1991. There have been a number of exchanges of students, as well as musicians and choirs.
