Members of the Tri City Rivershore Enhancement Council (TREC) were honored as the Tourism Champions of the Year at the Tri City Visitor & Convention Bureau Annual Meeting last month. In making the announcement, Bureau President & CEO, Kris Watkins stated, ~Levees have been lowered. Trails have been extended. Interpretive overlooks and viewpoints were created. Signage was added. Separated, paved bike paths were built. Parks and green spaces have been enhanced. And new docks and marinas welcome visitors from around the world. All because of TREC’s efforts to establish our community as a waterfront destination, and as a desirable location for business expansion.~

In addition, elections were held for positions on the Tri City Visitor & Convention Bureau Board of Directors. Those elected were: Lee Boman (JC Penney), Joe Creager (Columbia Point Golf Course), Connie Gillispie (Lourdes Health Network), Suzanne Heaston (Bechtel National, Inc.), and Keith Pilgrim (Terra Blanca Winery & Estate Vineyard). Chairman’s Appointees, who will each serve one-year terms, were also announced. They are: Calvin Dudney (Fluor), Barbara Johnson (Columbia Center), Mike Maehl (Benton Franklin River Heritage Foundation), Cliff Winkler (Washington Group International), and Don Hart (EnergySolutions). Much appreciation also goes out to outgoing Tri City Visitor & Convention Bureau Board members John Bookwalter (Bookwalter Winery), Jo Brodzinski (Seth Ryan Winery), and Jerry Schneider (Fluor). Thank you for all of your hard work and efforts to enhance tourism.
