It occurred to me the other day that some moving to Union County have never heard of it, and probably have no idea what there is to do once they get here. I did some digging, mostly on the chamber of commerce website, and came up with some fun things to do when you are in the area, besides buying a house of course.
If you are into the arts, you have to check out the Union County Players, a local nonprofit community theatre group. For more information call 704 289 7000.
For those with a passion for painting, Union County Community Arts Council sponsors an art gallery in downtown Monroe, as well as fun fundraising events all year long. They even have a writers club that meets monthly for those interested in sharpening their penmanship. For more information check out http://www.unionarts.org/.
One thing the south is known for is horse racing events, and Union County is no exception. Union County is home to the Queens Cup Steeplechase, a wonderful event that happens each year in Mineral Springs. For more info on this must see event check out http://www.queenscup.org/
Union County functions with five elected commissioners and one appointed county manager. The commissioners meet the first and third Monday of every month.
These are just a few of the fun things for people to do in Union County. There are literally hundreds of fun things to discover in Union County.
