We the People...

This is your country.  Do you like the direction it is taking?

Our forefathers left us with a road map.  They not only gave us a Constitution and a Bill of Rights, they left us their advice to follow through and keep control of our government.

Here are some quotes to ponder.  Look up other quotes of our founding fathers for more inspiration.

The day is coming where we will have to stand united as citizens, to save our country from destruction by those currently in power. If we fail to act responsibly we will lose forever our freedoms and rights.

We will leave our children burdened in debt for the rest of their lives for this folly.

Taken from Arlington Cemetery"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered."   Thomas Jefferson

The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government."
Patrick Henry

"It is well that the people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning." Henry Ford

"We still find the greedy hand of government thrusting itself into every corner and crevice of industry, and grasping at the spoil of the multitude. Invention is continually exercised to furnish new pretenses for revenue and taxation. It watches prosperity as its prey and permits none to escape without a tribute." Thomas Paine

"It will be of little avail to the people that the laws are made by men of their own choice if the laws be so voluminous that they cannot be read, or so incoherent that they cannot be understood. . ." James Madison

"We must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt. We must make our selection between economy and liberty or profusion and servitude. If we run into such debts as that we must be taxed in our meat in our drink, in our necessities and comforts, in our labors and in our amusements, for our callings and our creeds...our people.. must come to labor sixteen hours in the twenty-four, give earnings of fifteen of these to the government for their debts and daily expenses; and the sixteenth being insufficient to afford us bread, we must live..  We have not time to think, no means of calling the mis-managers to account, but be glad to obtain subsistence by hiring ourselves to rivet their chains on the necks of our fellow suffers.  Our landholders, too...retaining indeed the title and stewardship of estates called theirs, but held really in trust for the treasury, must...be contented with penury, obscurity and exile.. private fortunes are destroyed by public as well as by private extravagance.

This is the tendency of all human governments. A departure from principle becomes a precedent for a second; that second for a third; and so on, till the bulk of society is reduced to mere automatons of misery, to have no sensibilities left but for sinning and suffering... And the fore horse of this frightful team is public debt. Taxation follows that, and in its train wretchedness and oppression."   Thomas JeffersonOur U.S. Capitol

Seems to me most of the issues you are addressing began or reached fruition under the previous adminsitration... it was they that nationalized corporations, bailed out banks, and limited our freedoms via the Patriot Act... we should keep that in mind as we think on these things.

It's sad to think that 300 years ago the founding fathers untethered by lobbyists and big money were able to put down the guidelines to keep us on a straight path. Over the years that path is more crooked than the yellow Brick road, and there's no Oz at the end to even get us back where we belong. Sigh!
