Does it matter much any more which . you use anymore for you website? The name I want is taken already by a .com and a .org Is there a big difference in using a .info for instance? Does it make any difference to a search engine. This isn't an URL I will use on printed material so most of the time people would just click a link to get there. Thanks.

Most people will automatically go to a .com -- at least that seems like the case from what we read.

To the search engines, I wouldn't think it would make a difference. If it truly won't be a URL which people will be trying to remember then it probably doesn't matter. I try to stick to .com just because people automatically try that first.

It use to be 1-800 and now it is 1-888 ... I think a lot of the .coms are used up, but still a common thought process.

Regardless of which you use, the biggest payoff will come from how you promote your website, your use of keywords so that you are easily found, and quality and value of the content you put on your site so that people will want to visit.
Good luck!
