First Night Raleigh, North Carolina - New Year's Eve in Raleigh, North Carolina


Tomorrow night, in the heart of downtown, the city of Raleigh will say goodbye to 2009 and usher in the new year with its annual First Night celebration.

With yearly attendance of over 40,000 people from Raleigh, Cary, Apex, and it's surrounding areas, North Carolina's capitol city has plenty on tap to make this year's festivities one of its all time best!


Concerts by renowned North Carolina Blues artist Bob Margolin, Grammy Award winning singer/ songwriter Barbara Bailey Hutchinson, and Johnny Cash Tribute Band (and Raleigh natives), the Johnny Folsom Four will all be on hand to help ring in the New Year!

There's even an early countdown at 7:00PM so the little ones can enjoy all the fun without having to stay up way past their bed times!

Most of the evening's events are free to attend, but some special performances do require admission.

Children's Celebration - 2:00PM-6:00PM

People's Procession - 6:00PM

Early Countdown - 7:00PM

Evening Performances - 7:00PM-11:00PM

Countdown to Midnight - 10:30PM-Midnight

Craig -  Great info!  I wish my older daughter could attend these types of events but as you already know they aren't enjoyable for her.  Love the squirrel  and I have to say you are bent!  You had me LMAO when I saw that.
