For those of you that may consider moving to Hockley or Waller, your kids will most likely be attending one of the schools in the Waller School District. I have 6 kids that have attended school in this district for the past 9 years and we have had a mostly favorable experience. Here's my take on our experience to date.

For reference, here is their website...

My oldest son just graduated from Waller High School in the top 20% of his class. He scored very high on his SAT and will be going on to college in the fall. I have kids in Roberts Road elementary, another one in the high school and one at Waller Junior High. All of the older kids attended Shultz middle school for 5th and 6th grade.

The teachers in the school district are superb. I won't say they've all been perfect examples of professionalism but my kids have come away with what I feel is a solid education to date, which is why we send our kids to school in the first place. I don't have to worry when I send my kids to school that they will get shot or mugged or accosted in some way. I have come to know that the parents of most of these kids are just like my husband and I in that they either grew up here or moved here to get away from the "big city" attitudes and lifestyle and want to raise their kids to be good, honest, upright citizens whose focus is on family and God.

Some people get the idea that there is nothing in Waller but a bunch of "dumb redneck" types but that is not the case. There are many people that are moving out to the unincorporated areas of Harris County to escape the ever rising crime rates in Houston. That is what we did and we've not regretted it.

If you move to the Hockley or Waller area you will find what we found. Some PEACE AND QUIET.

Our kids got involved in scouting, football, cheerleading, etc. when we moved here. The programs at Waller ISD are ever evolving and get better every year. All of our kids have done very well on State aptitude tests and if compared to other districts scoring would be equal to or exceed expectations.

If you are considering moving to our area but are not sure about the school district, know that I and my husband put our own personal stamps of approval on it for our own children and we would never skimp on anything where they are concerned. Be sure to check out their website and call me if you have any questions or concerns.
