sticky trap

Me:  I think we have a dead mouse in the storage room.

Hubby:  I don't smell anything.

Me:  Please, Check it out.

Hubby:  I didn't see anything.

Fast forward a month:

Hubby:  I hit the trifecta-  Look what was caught in the storage room!!

Me:  Where did you find that?  The same place you didn't look last month?

Note to self- buy more sticky traps- Don't let the kids put them out where no one knows the location.  This one was under a shelf out of sight.-  Yuck!  I am use to finding them filled with crickets and bugs, but this is a bit gross.

That is simultaneously amazing, and disgusting.  Kind of like driving by the accident on the freeway, you can't help but take a second look.

HOLY MOLY, Cheryl.  Did this really come from inside your house?  I would die if I caught a snake in my house... shoot...I'd die if I caught a worm in my house.  I hate all those creepy crawlys.  That's some photo!

Cheryl, too funny-----I gotta go with the frog as being the oldest critter on the sticky----but you can't tell much about the bugs.

Ron- Hubby thought I was strange making him hold it for me to get a picture!

Amy-One of the wonderfull things about basements it that they house more then we know or want to know.

Charles-The bugs don't bother me, just means the traps work. Besides they don't smell.  The mouse and snake on the other hand- they have an odor- takes a couple of days of spraying the fabreez to tackle the smell.  As you might have guessed, I didn't ask just once for hubby's assistance in locating the source.

All that valuable wildlife.... dead, dead, dead. How sad. You should buy the green traps that catch without killing so you can them let them live out their lives outdoors. Or get a cat that is always ready to pounce on anything new or moving.

Russell-I would love to have a pouncy cat, but I am allergic.  I think have an average to normal respect for nature.  (I don't step on bugs outside.)

There is give and take in any relationship.  I am willing to let the creepy crawlies make their own decision as to whether they want to come in.  I will post a DO NOT ENTER and a STICKY TRAPS USED HERE  and hope that will be a deterrent.

Please do a post on the green-traps so I can see what you are suggesting

Paradox- what would happen if the same situation (frog, mouse, snake) ended up in a Green?  Do they just wait till released to continue their adventures.  The room these were in is storage so it doesn't get checked on a daily basis.

What would you suggest (besided a cat) that can be a first line of defence to keep the outside from getting to the inside living areas?-  cheryl(Pro-nature, just not in my house)willis

All I can say is, UGH!!! But glad that you were so persistent. Sounds like something that I would have done...the not following up after the wife's repeated attempts to get me to pay attention to something like that.

OK, I'm looking in all my closets today......there will be no snakes allowed.  This is typical of my hubby brushing me off.

Darrin- check out your big box store, mine were found at Walmart.

Wm- in hubby's defense he is gone a lot so didn't have to deal with the couple of days of smell.  It is still gross but if you are not there, it is hard to care.

Kay- this time of year (fall-winter) they are drawn by the heat, The storage room is so packed at the time that he just couldn't find the trap.  I have been doing my spring clean this winter and that room was the priority.
