The city of Airdrie, Alberta has continued to grow of the years into the vibrant small city of approx. 38000 that it is today. Airdrie strives to focus on growth management and is continuing to see strong commercial, industrial and residential development.
The Calgary-Edmonton corridor is strategically located as a commercial corridor which functions as the 
distribution hub for western Canada. The north-south trade corridor has been receiving a lot of attention recently as the Cross Iron Mills mega mall opened in August 2009 , which places Airdrie less than a 5 minute commute away.
The Municipal District of Rocky View has also added 2,500 acres to the southeastern end of its commercial and industrial project located east of the Queen Elizabeth II highway. These additional acres will incorporate an Area Structure Plan (ASP) containing 4,000 acres of land north of Highway 566, most of which is designated for residential use. These developments will have a 
positive ripple effect on real estate demands in Airdrie as they closely link Calgary, Balzac and Airdrie together, while allowing Airdrie to remain a self-sustained city where people can live, work and play.
