The White House Blog - - - Silence Won’t Work For US Now - - -

No matter if you agree or disagree with the current administration, we need to speak our minds or we have given up our freedom of speech and shouldn’t be too quick to complain if we don’t like what is going on.

As I’ve posted in the past about communication with the White House regarding the housing mess and job creation, I am now the recipient of another invitation to wade in on discussions at the White House. So, here is the schedule of opportunities for the week I just received. Please give it some consideration to either join in on your own or pass your thoughts on to me and I’ll be more than happy to transmit the sense of your ideas. We need to work our way out of the mess we are in at this point.

Thank you in advance for your engagement in our democracy.

The following topics are as received from the White House this morning:

Where We've Been, Where We Are, Where We're Headed

As the first year of the Obama Administration concludes with the State of the Union, we thought it would be good to sit down with the public and take stock of what we've done over the last year, where we are now, and the tremendous amount of work that remains to bring the change the Americans want and need. That's why every day this week we're going to start the morning with a blog post from one of our top policy people looking over the past year, to be followed up by an online video chat in the afternoon.

To say the year has been a whirlwind would be an understatement – every day is a whirlwind, where you see countless hundreds of people racing down the halls at all hours to do their part for the country they serve. These blog posts and chats will be some of the first times even for people here that we can take time and look back at the full year, so we hope you'll join us throughout the week.

Here's the schedule we have planned, which will be updated in this post with the blog posts and recordings of the chats as we go,along with any time changes:

Monday, 3:30 EST: Carol Browner, Assistant to the President for Energy and Climate, discusses the President’s push to create the new clean energy economy.

Tuesday, 3:00 EST: Ben Rhodes of the National Security Council discusses the President’s handling of national security and foreign policy.

Wednesday, 12:00 EST: HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius will talk about health reform, from how far we’ve come to how reform will benefit American families and small businesses.

Thursday, TBD: The nation's first Federal Chief Technology Officer, Aneesh Chopra, will join Norm Eisen, special counsel to the president for ethics and government reform, to talk about all the ways in which the President has changed Washington.

Friday, 1:00 EST: Christina Romer, Chair of the Council of Economic Advisers, talks about the President’s primary focus on restoring the economy for all Americans and creating jobs for the American people.

Frank...I will have to put my thinking cap on.  I have made many of my questions known to my reps, and have gotten answers back.  Not the ones I looked for , but I did get a response.

I agree we do need to speak our minds in a posititve manner if possible.

Thank you Bill . . . I appreciate your engagement. I really look forward to communicating more with you on these critical issues.

Hi Shelton, you are right. I don't agree with a lot of what is coming out of Washington on both sides of the current political scene, but if I say nothing, I might as well go into agreement.

This one is easy, let me work down your post.

1. Fire Carl Browner- Asst to President for Energy and Climate- no where in the constitution does it say that my President gets to decide about the climate and clean energy.

2.  Fire Ben Rhodes, we don't need any one that can't even have a  title.  "of the National Security Council" sounds like a lobbyist.

3.  Fire Sebelius, she knows very little about Health and left Michigan broke.  Besides if her opinion is the same as everybody elses, we can get rid of her and just listen to the President.

4.  Fire Aneesh Copra, we don't need another czar, we went hundreds of years without one.  Besides that, if you really think that Obama has changed Washington, why do we get the same results.

5. Fire Christina Romer, another Washington flunky that doesn't have an opinion of her own, just going to say what the Administration wants her to say.

Frank, just tell the President to stop spending money that he doesn't have, do not sign another bill that requires funding, and prosecute all recipients of bail out money for fraud and arrest all of Congress for taking bribes.    Regardless of all the talk, all the billions of words written, the path that America is going to take is already written.   Our government has spent trillions it doesn't have, has engaged in a foreign policy that only kills Americans without any positive results, enriching politicians, CEOs, and other "favorites"  Domestic policy has killed off whole industries while taking over others.

I will vote all encumbents out of office as they come due.

Hi Dale (Home Realty Group), I appreciate the courage of your passionate conviction. There is no doubt we are in an extremely critical condition in this country in many areas. And yes, there are many that need to be held accountable. But, I don't really think we have the luxury of waiting for new faces to show up in mass to bailout our sinking ship of state. We the people are faced with the task now. Besides, I've seen too many "new" faces turn into the same old faces pretty quickly. I also need to believe that there are solutions. America has been through many difficult times in its brief history and we have always worked our way out of the problems. I see the condition we are in today to be fixable. We just need to find the right combination of solutions. I choose to work with what we have and maintain the feeling we will get better. Thank you for your thoughtful comment.
