Technology in Real Estate: YouMail.com

YouMail.com provides customized voice mail messages for your cell phone.YouMail

How would you like to have a customized message for a particular caller to receive when they call you?  You can personalize a message for any contact in your phone list and you don't have to change your cell phone carrier or switch providers, etc... just use YouMail.com.

What first caught my attention was what I heard young people were using this service for.  They were using it to respond to callers such as mom or dad, telemarketers or persistent callers and leave them a message when they didn't want to talk to them.  Hmm, sounds a bit interesting.

With the no call list, I wondered how this service might be used in a business environment.  Then I thought about how to use it as a "Call to Action" for clients and prospects. Let's say you are out on vacation and need to leave them a specific message for someone or a group of callers.  This might work!

How about the time when you are out on showing buyers or on a listing appointment for a seller and need to get a message to a buyer or seller who will be calling you back.  Could this work?  Not sure, but I'm going to look into it.

What do you think, could this be used in the business world for our benefit? The service is free.  Doesn't mean everything that is free is good, but each and every one of us are looking for something new to help us with our clients, buyers, sellers and business aquaintances.  Thinking out of the Box!

Check it out and give us your comments!

My best to you!

David: I just went to the youmail.com sight and it looks like a cool service. I am going to test it out in the next few days.  I have five adult children who complain about my long voice mail greeting on my cell phone - it is directed at buyers who are calling so gives a lot of information including my web address.  My kids hate it!  I hope this works...thanks so much for the tip.

Yes, interesting indeed. I looked at the web site, didn't bother to regsiter, but there was no indication on just how all this works. It seems like it might be a little clumsy to do quickly 1) record the message, 2) download it, 3) transfer it to your phone, 4) and link to the caller(s) some how. And then how does it interface to the v-mail? Maybe 2) & 3) are just sent with a text message or something like that.

Maybe all this is answered. Please keep us posted on this as you look at it more. I have to say that some of the messages onthe web site are pretty darn funny!

Hmm...do you have to use their prerecorded messages?

I'll have to look a little more indepth on this -- how cool would it be if you programmed your current active clients and each had their personal message.

David this sounds like a great idea to me.  There have been times when I would like to leave a specific voicemail on my phone for people I know will be calling, but I didn't necessarily want everyone to hear that message...great idea.  I'm going to check it out.

Jeff, GREAT, I'm excited to know someone has used this technology and rates it highly!  Do you use it as has been expressed in this post or do you use it in other ways.  Any advice would be appreciated!  Thanks for providing your insight!
