Pat Boone brings magic to the beach

A new theater is coming to Myrtle Beach in late spring, a representative from an IlIinois-based entertainment company announced Thursday.
The Pat Boone Family Theater is opening in the "heart of the shopping and entertainment district in Myrtle Beach" and Las Vegas illusionist and mentalist Morgan Strebler is scheduled to headline at the theater, said Glenn Milligan, president and CEO of Liquid Metal Holdings LLC.
Strebler is expected to perform about 200 days a year during the initial five-year deal.
Milligan declined to reveal the location of the theater, but said it would be in an existing building that holds 600 seats.
No building permits have been issued so far, but there is plenty of time for organizers to permit and refit a building in a few months, said city spokesman Mark Kruea.
Some of the vacant building possibilities in the area include the former location of Barnes & Noble bookstore off of U.S. 17 Bypass North, the empty Club Kryptonite building near Broadway at the Beach and a former movie theater located off of Kings Highway, he said.
Pat Boone will perform at the grand opening and a Christmas program, Milligan said. The theater will offer matinee performance and two evening shows and has already signed more than 50 performers, he said.
"We're not going to bring more of the same to Myrtle Beach. We're bringing moreentertainment, but it's different entertainment," Milligan said. "We're looking at everything right now. They're not just country western or comedy. These are household names that have become so over our lifetimes and people are going to be blown away."
