Do you know some kids who could stand to spend a little time outdoors? There are some “camperships” (fully paid weeks of camp) to YMCA Camp Horseshoe available to kids that meet certain criteria.
The camp runs from July 15-21 and again Jully 22-28 and is for boys and girls ages 7 -12.
Here’s some information taken from their website:
Horseshoe's Youth Opportunity Camps help low income boys and girls choose positive activities, attitudes and goals. YOC helps children improve social skills and confidence, build self-control, learn to better relate to others and find hope for a better future. YOC promotes healthy lifestyles by teaching good personal hygiene, physical and mental activity, good nutrition and school success. Children thrive in Horseshoe's guided atmosphere of purpose, positive role models, caring expectation, learning and constructive character building activities. The residential experience of family and community is Horseshoe's distinctive difference in the lives of children.
Camperships are available to children on SSI, in foster care or protective services, or whose family income meets free or reduced priced school meals.
