Great article on how to prevent plagiarism of your content!

Hi All,

I don't usually share many links, but I read a great article this morning on how to help prevent people from stealing your content, or at the very least to help sway them not to. It's one thing to re-order words change things up because there is only so much you can write about a particular area for instance, like the history of a location or if it's a article you are passing along as a resource to your clients, but I like to at least credit the author if applicable.

The first paragraph in the article is so dead on. It talks about how you bust your butt, straining your brain, days/months of researching like crazy and pulling all nighters to get your content and ideas up, then someone that is too lazy to do their own work, comes along and copies what you've worked so hard to produce.

I hope this helps some of you!

Good post, I threw in my thoughts on the whole thing. CopyScape is probably the best thing around besides a few college sites.

That's an interesting post -- Do you know if these safe-guards effect the SEO in any way?

Thanks Melanie, They should only affect SEO in a positive way. Unique content is one of the many was to get ranked in SEO, meaning if you copy someone else's unique content it's not going to help your rankings and in many cases it will dilute it.  Here is a link to sound SEO advice. http://www.seobook.com/bloggers

Also, if you reference the right hand column on the page of the article in my blog, you will find many links and posts with great tips and advice. I would ask your website developer to research it for you to be sure.
