If you are moving to the DFW area, we know your assignments are often short term of 2-3 years. If that is your expectation, we'll do our best to help guide you to the areas that have the best chances for resale in that timeframe. If you have family with children we can recommend the areas with the best school systems. The DFW Metroplex area is a great assignment in your career. The cost of living here is low compared with places like Washington, New York, Los Angeles, and many of the other larger cities around the country. We have great schools and easy commutes to your offices and to the airports.
If you are moving out of the DFW area, we understand your new assignment can call for immediate relocation. We'll help you to get the most of your move package and sell your home quickly for the highest possible price in the shortest possible time. Leaving a home here in the DFW area to sell while you are in another city can be a challenge, and we're here to help you every step of the way.
Relocation companies often want to assign you an agent. I never think this is a good option. What they don't tell you is that you can choose your own agent, not just from the one or two they send over. Please include us in your choices. Just tell your relocation counselor that you have already chosen an agent that specifically works with law enforcement families and give them my name - "Bruce Lynn". Then give me a call at 214-675-6992 so that I can follow up with your counselor. We'll follow all their guidelines for your benefits and make sure you get the maximum value of the benefit you have earned. If you are buying a home here, they'll often just assign you one agent. Again you have a choice. We've worked with many law enforcement families over the years, know you have special considerations, and will work diligently to make sure you are well taken care of. Don't trust your sale or purchase to a random pick of agents.
The best advice I can give you is to read and study the relocation package they give you. There are often changes and very specific information and guidelines you will need to follow to ensure you maximum benefit. It can differ between agencies and GS levels. There are special programs available in the DFW area for law enforecement families. One of these is the GNND or Good Neighbor Next Door program from HUD.
